This is probably a really dumb Q, but resonators = mufflers? Also, do you have any audio tacks of them by any chance? I'm actually keeping an eye out for some nice sounding mufflers at the moment.

    ....yes.....

.....:) resonators=mufflers:) Resonaters is how the Yanks spell it:D I do not have any audio of them, sorry. I am told they have a real cool sound though, not too loud to attract the blue-boys, but a very nice note apparently.:)

Paul are these a straight through design, ie. you can see daylight when you look through one side?

I bought a set of mufflers a year ago and they are straight through and are loud as :( I would be keen for a set if they have sufficient baffling.

Here's a few links to an unresonated x-pipe setup sounds like
    http://www.askthedrunk.com/guap/public/vids/onramppulll.avi

    http://www.askthedrunk.com/guap/public/vids/shilohpullavi.avi

    http://www.askthedrunk.com/guap/public/vids/seedyflyby.mpeg

Can't wait to get them :p

These are fairly loud if you have the non-resonated version. If you want it quiet, send them an email, and see what they recommend.

Are these sound clips of the ones for sale or a diff sort your recommending?

The sound clips are for the Sebring mufflers offered here.

    SeedyROM is running:
    SpecialtyZ 2.5" Split-Flange Downpipes
    SpecialtyZ 2.5" Exhaust (Quad Tip)
    SpecialtyZ 2.5" Test Pipes
    SpecialtyZ 2.5" X-Pipe (Unresonated)

Not sure what Shiloh is running, but I'd be guessing it would be identical to the setup above.

    .....they are......

...straight through with perforated core:) They are built more for performance rather than silence:) Specialty Z is predominently a performance shop:)

I do want a performance muffler, but some give an aweful drone through the cabin like mine do, others are quite loud but don't drone in the cabin. I'm all for a muffler that is quiet when cruising and loud when you stomp it.

That's exactly what I'm after too. If I'm cruising on the freeway, I want to hear the stereo, not a loud resonating drone throughout the cabin, but If I plant my foot, I want to hear it roar. I've seen some you have an in-cabin control to adjust their noise. Moves a plate near the back that either makes them straight through or routes the air around through chambers so to quieten it down. Though probably cost a bomb haha.

Electronic exhaust cut-outs? I've considered them, but cutting up fairly expensive exhaust components to fit them is not something I feel comfortable with. Maybe if they were a stock option with the SpecialtyZ gear, or maybe I'll just get some tuneagent testpipes which don't cost alot and hack them up.

If you don't want drone, you are definitely gonna want resonators. However, that is going to quieten it down when you plant it, and the note won't be raw, it'll have a more refined sound to it.

If you really want it quiet, get resonated testpipes and a resonated x-pipe.

    ......well.....

.......The information I have is that they do not drone through the cabin, and are still legal on the streets of the US even if you do stomp it. :) I have not used these myself, but if you look at the pic below, it is of my ex Zed, now owned by AMEC, with very similar resonators attached made here in Australia by Hitech Mufflers.:) They are stainless steel, straight through with perforated cores and about the similar size to Specialty Z's.:) AND, they do not drone through the cabin of that Zed.:zlove:

......If you go to my website and click on "PLAY" at the top right hand of the home page you will hear them;)

Can you get thier piping too? eg full system.

Exhaust is about three things down on my list, but would be interested if a few people decide to go with them. This style muffler is exactly what i am after and the price seems good, so I could be easily persuaded.:D

I've recently bolted on a Specialty Z cat back system, (X pipe and mufflers on an NA) and I have to say those sounds clips don't offer enough or adequate praise...
All in all its fairly loud now, but not unpleasant; More of an aggressive Grrr! rather than rasping drone.

The resonators are an additional feature (not part of the mufflers, - installed in the piping further back) which help eliminate drone and lessen the noise somewhat. A must for NA owners! TTs are quieter (so I've been told) so that option remains open.

The H pipe option is less noisy but sacrifices top end power.

The mufflers SpecialtyZ offer are beautiful, and the US Z Clubs rate them highly.
I'll do the same by stating that there can't be much better.

I cannot predict the results should the catalytic converters be removed. I would think this would worsen the noise problem?

Yes the TT is a LOT quiter than a NA. If you take the exhaust off a TT it's loud, like a ricer Integra i spose, if you take the exhaust of a NA it's like a NASCAR or WW2 Fighter Plane, very cool  Lots of popping on the overrun and things like that :D

Put me down as a "definately interested, but maybe" This might be a big ask, but can you find out the pressure drop across these at full throttle @ full load please? I'm building up a nasty NA and want my exhuast to be perfect (quick note for other NA guys, the perfect primary length for your extractors should be 29"/735mm for peak power at aprox 7000rpm and the current GB ones are about 12" (eyeballing them) this would give max power at 15,000rpm  They did this so they could be a bolt up mod and wont require annoying modification)
