some lady was nice enough to smash into the back of my Z this morning while i was driving to work ..... although the damage to my bumper was pretty minimal the hit was pretty damn hard (her cars bumper, bonnet, lights, radiator & so on are all smashed up) i was drinking juice at the time & it got spilled all over me & my interior   so i drove home to get changed (1 hour back home) and when i went to start driving again my fuel pump started making a loud grunting kind of noise ... i installed a bosch 040 pump about a month ago & it has been working perfectly .... i got to the bottom of my road & it started to f*k up royally so i turned around and just got it back home .... could the impact have damaged my fuel pump in some way even though my bumper still looks pretty straight? and what do i do about repairing the pump? if it is f**ked i have a spare one i can install but how do i go about charging her for it? i want to swap it myself because i trust my own work but i also want the bumper repaired (the paint has come of of and is bent just above the number plate) through insurance ... will they cover it?

Call your insurance company immediately if you haven't done so already, tell them everything that happend and give them the details of the other driver and mention your fuel pump aswell. You shouldn't have to pay a cent if it was the other persons fault. If it was a hard hit I could definately see the fuel pump getting damaged internally...

i seriously doubt it has anything to do with the alarm wiring, so is it a grinding or a buzzing?
is there a warranty on the pump? i dont see how a bump in the ass would cause it to stuff up an hour later..

i only have third party and we are both insured with different companys... im not going to pay a cent! i just need my car asap cos i live in woop woop with no transport... and trav it wasn't just a light bump it was a pretty hard hit & my pump has been working perfectly since the day i installed it ... i think it was a really loud deep kind of buzz/grind haha that probably doesn't help ... im pretty sure it has a warranty still have the receipt somewhere ....
isn't it true that if you drop them it stuffs up the magnet? maybe something like that happened it loosened when hit then after a bit of driving it & f**ked it more

Ah that sucks zxdreamer, at least it sounds like the damage is miniual to your zed:). Did u get all her details, name, address, number, and insurance company & rego?? you dont need to call your insurance as she was at fault, so u will need to call her insurance company (if she has insurance) and make a claim against her. Your insurance company doesnt need to know you have been in an accident as it has nothing to do with them. They will most like need to take your car to the nearest assesment centre to get assessed for damages and then it will get taken to a repairshop to get repaired. I had to go through this when a guy hit me doing an illegal U-turn right in front of me. It took the repair 3 months to full repair my car. but hopefully u wont need to wait that long.

I wouldnt be able to tell u if the accident caused any damaged to the fuel pump. You could tell them you think the accident damaged the fuel pump and they might add it to the damage report but i dunno. I hope ok to.

could the buzzing have been your arial? Possibly has come off the rails and when it tried to go up or down it buzzes/makes noise? I hope you get it sorted soon. I've been the victim of 2 morons in my time on the road, so annoying that you have to 'pay' (time wise and stress) for their mistake!

    not much damage:confused:

Thats because the bumper has flexed and hidden all the damage. Trust me the number of accidents I've been involved in 6. Take it to the insurer and I can nearly garantee there will be far more damage than you can see. If that much damage was done to the other car your will have similar, just that the bumper masks it. But good news is wasn't your fault.

    Not good to hear sally!

Take to a panel beater and let them know its on her insurance. If you are lucky most panel beaters have a courtesy car to use. If its just the bumper - fixing it shouldnt take to long. Mine was 3 days and Zed bumpers are good at absorbing a wack, but the foam underneath is probably dead now,

If it's an hours drive or more, You'll probably get 1/2 way there with your mates, run out of money and then have to go home    :D :D :D :p :p :p :zlove:

i hope the panel beating doesn't take too long! i want my car for the tech day

on the other hand i spoke to her insurance company and with regards to my fuel pump my best friend & i work on cars & have an abn so technically i can do the fuel pump swap & invoice myself (they wont know that i did the work) and then send the bill to them ... hmm i feel my hourly rate going up! hahah .... they prefered that to the other option of putting it on a tow truck to & from quotes & inspections & reimbursing me for that

well i guess i know what im doing tonight ahah
