ok after hours of searching on here and on few other forums, i'm over it/ more confused, so heres my issue......
i recently bought a rear subframe to rebuild and its had the tops shaved of the subframe bushes like this....
i'm guessing the desired effect of doing this mod is lower height and better pinion angle??
now i want to replace all bushes but i now have a few choices as to what i can use, i originally was going alloy in the subframe bushes and urethane in the diff mounts but i'm not to sure now, this is what i have.....

i found a photo of these,

from what iv'e read, if i keep the shaved mount subframe i need to replace the material that has been removed off the top onto the bottom of the bush so it bolts up the same thickness, any ideas/input is greatly appreciated ??

Yeah shaved bushes to try and correct the roll centre on a lowered car.

Don't use solid sub frame mounts if you want the car for a daily driver but can't stand any vibrations - the factory put rubber in there for a reason.

Here is one option to sort out bushes as close as possible to OEM:

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car...mance/suspension-braces/auction-563356923.htm

Other option is a complete new rear sub frame at about $600 US plus shipping to you, I'm told there are only about 18 left in the world new and they are not making any more ever.

I've had to replace enough of the after market Nolathane type bushes due to falling apart to know that none of them are worth bothering with on something that is hard to remove etc.

ok thanks for the info fellas, so is it worth keeping the "shaved" subframe? my car isnt that low (around 2 inches lower than std, tho using this would drop the bum of the car to around where i want it) should i bin this subframe and just use my old one ?

The struts attach directly to the knuckle so changing the sub frame height actually only changes the angle of the arms and also the minor angle changes with the wheel that come from moving the arms. The overall height of the car will stay the same.

If your original sub frame has good bushes in it then I'd just use that, there are spacers out there to tighten up the bushes and these work well with minimal side effects :)

IMO it depends on what your doing with the car. You may want it down the track for some other purpose/repair. Something like this bolted hard and low is most likely going to cause over-steer which is probably only any good for drift track/showroom. However, would not this mod to sub-frame help improve axle tramp???

thats probably my main reason for trying to keep this subframe (+ i can build my rear end in my own time if i dont use the one in the car already).

OK I have mistaken what your asking.

I would dice the rubber if they're OE for sure, but not necessarily the outer bullet casing. Perhaps replace inner tube bearing with larger OD and definitely use rubber/urethane bushes on top especially at rear to chassis. Also replace bushing to diff if OE. Firmer compound on rear tyres if possible but only to reduce tramp.

Like this from top but with brand of choice>>>

I only say this here because of age.
