bought some H4 Xenon headlight yesterday... guy at autopro assured me thats what my low beams were and guess what, nope there not. noticed though that the plug for the high beam H1's are the same as the plug on the back of the H4's an was wondering if its possible to modify the back of the highbeam socket to allow me to fit H4's? any1 done this or would it work? the H4's have a 12V 110W rating whereas the H1's are only 12V 55W so im thinking logically that this would be a decent upgrade to the headlights seeing as how sh*t they are:p

    cheers

Just be careful the extra wattage and heat don't cause anything to melt.

Zed lights are H3 but there is a tech article that tells you how to "mod" your headlights so they can take a regular globe. Pretty easy to do and will save a lot of money considering the price of H3 globes.

haha yep now that would suck, there are lower wattage versions of the H4's that i could fit i spoze... but is that then defying the point of fitting them in the first place? i dont know if the H4's are neccessarily betterwhen they're at the same wattage as a H1, its just that they're a xenon bulb which i cant seem to find in H1's

Isn't the idea with Xenon bulbs that they are brighter at lower wattages than normal bulbs? Kinda like fluorescent bulbs and normal ones in the house.

does it differ between years/import/auspec? coz my high beams are definatly H1's no doubt about it and low beams not sure but they aint H3...

Did you get a Hid Xenon kit with the ballests or just a std halogen labelled 'xenon'?
For your low beams you need to get H3c globes for std install and high beams are
H1 globes. If they are halogen globes, then going to 100watts can do damage,
but not always, but if you go with the conversion to Hid Xenon then the difference
in viewing is night and day.

Low beams are H3c according to tech section. Like H3 but with a little prong at the end.

Auspec Z32's have H3 Low Beam globes.
Jspec have H3C Low Beam globes.
Up until I fitted an HID Xenon Kit, I was using 100w Phillips globes for 5 years, without any hassles.

If you are talking real xenon's HID's then you are talking putting in ballasts and relays and the whole bit, if you are just talking Globes then all you are getting a blue stained glass, if thats what you want I suggest you take the H4s back and get some H3s [and modify the lights] or H3C's off ebay.

a right well these are just the sh*tty blue stained glass not the full HID kit, they were free neway so ill just give em to a mate and go after a HID kit im spozing... what are they worth for a good kit, and any brand recomendations?

I've seen them on eBay for around $100-$150.

$695 from UAS or for the full proper kit, your looking at around $2500-$3000 from conceptZperformance or TTZ.

I have an imported (J-Spec) Z and I'm glad i found this thread. I'd like to do an HAD conversion on the low beam projector. In so far as to just replace the halogen bulb with an HID bulb, igniter and ballast. Now the trick is to try and find a D2S HID bulb that's H3C based. Any ideas on sources for kits to do this upgrade? Sourcing from Canada would be great but I've got the feeling that I'll have to acquire them from the US.
Can anyone confirm if the high beam bulbs on a J-Spec are also H1's?
I've yet to find a thread where there was feedback from members who have gone the HID bulb/igniter/ballast route yet. Suggestions/guidance would be appreciated, cheers.

    Ok.

I have done the whole route, it was supplied by me, and fitted by Nick at Adelaide Z cars, he did a great job, including putting in a probably unnecessary 60W relay just to satisfy me, and the improvement it outstanding, actually a little hard to believe, particularly considering there was NO cleaning of the projector lens or the interior of the headlight glass.

The installation is very pro and looks stock. As the ballasts are in metal \cases, i will eventually be painting them in the stock Nissan silver to match the car, and they will essentially be unnoticeable.

    cheers

Great, that's the kind of info I was trying to find out. Since the previuos Japanese owner had Bosch H35C's, I'm wondering what the difference is between those and the H3C's. I'm guessing higher wattage but not sure.
HP; what HID conversion kit did you have installed (brand name)?
Did you utilize a rebased H3 HID bulb/ballast combo or a rebased H3C?
Are you completely convinced that the conversion was worth the money and produced anticipated illumination results?

    HID outcome

    1. cannot immediately remember brand name.

    2. Used a H3C bulb so no rebasing was necessary, just a normal bulb change,

    3. Converson was right up at the top for value for money, would do it again in a heartbeat. 300% better than stock right now.

    4. Once I clean the lenses/glass I will have an even better result, and beam pattern will improve - and then I will see final result

Was checking another site and it recommened:

    Low Beam|High Beam|Fog
    9006|9005|H3

    Is this correct?

Also, are our park lights T10s? Since I've found some nice ones of these I can buy to give off "HID look" light for like $15 while I'm in M'sia.
