    THE STORY
so a mate of mine just imported his z (not a member no internet) got heaps of good stuff in it; springs, swaybars, boost controller, zorst, recaro seat, 18" rims...etc all for a bargain price paid about $3k less than i did for mine(thanx geoff). im jealous but im glad he didnt get a VS commonwhore. anyway amongst it all he has xenon headlights...

    THE ACTUAL QUESTION
doing compliance. xenon headlights can you get away with them?

No. But the good news is...

that I will swap my standard headlights with your friends. ;)

Failing that I have a spare set that you guys can borrow for compliancing.

    Cheers,
    Evan (EvZ)

haha i already suggested swapping my 17s with him but i have snow tyres so im not sure what the licenceing centres are like on them. i had an exemption for my compliancing paid for before march last year.
boost controller wat boost controller ;)
hes got braided brake lines too. shame to have to pull them out. wonder if he can get a permit for them or something??

    re: xenon's

I was at Autoworx picking up mine and I think I was shown your buddies car, (charcoal auto?) he went through a few things on it inncluding the xenon and reckons that they've gotta go because there's a bit of a delay in powering up. *shrug*

I had a quick look with google and all I really got was that it's a grey area. I'd be surprised if the compliancer would sign it off despite what might happen at the exam center so you'd have to convince him with something solid first. If he's allowed to get it to the exam center as it is then may as well give it a try, at least it's something that could be temporarily switched out on the same day and so not cost any extra.

    its here

    hey mike wats happening?
it is here and it is nice! but its a while from being registered. funds depleted.
    stil needs to
    -swap headlights (EvZ- most probably)
-swap recaro seat (me:D just temoprary)
    -swap braided brake lines out
    -install car alarm
i would guess it wont be for a month or so but i know he wants it on road pretty bad.

    Fair enough

Yeh waiting sucks, but well worth it in the end , good luck with it as i found compliancing a pain in the A$$, only thing i can say is get a decent alarm fitted :)

    Some answers...

...Braided lines are ok if they are ADR approved; since they came on the car from Japan, its a safe bet they aren't and will therefore have to come off.

Snow tyres - although not recommended for use in WA (for obvious reasons) as long as they are DOT approved and are of legal tread then they are legal. Just do NOT do any prolonged high speed driving or you'll find yourself in a spot of bother - they were not designed to reach high temperatures let alone spin at high speed.
