wont turn over

    So my z is not starting since taking to it my mates place and respraying it,

    you can hear the starter ticking but it wont turn over, what would i look at?

    im retarted when it comes to these cars so maybe gimme some things to look at then i can just google where they are and go from there.

    multimetre on the battery, check your voltage.
    also are your dash lights dimmed when trying to crank ?

    the battery is new, its been flat about 3 times but its on a charger charging,
    some genius thought itd be a good idea to leave the ignition on overnight, then the same genius thought it would be a good idea to do the same thing once i had charged it. i think i need new smarter friends lol

    If your confident your battery is ok and is not the problem

    Hit the starter motor hard with a hammer then try to start it.

    Its an old mechanic trick that sometimes gives them a new life by making them engage properly - you have nothing to lose!

    It could be a dud battery. Try swapping the battery with one you know is good or use jumper leads.

    this is used if you know your starter is either siezed or not throwing out and I wouldnt make it a hard hit., I would pick that multiple major discharges of your battery may have pooped it .
