Well to all of you guys who decided to bail out due to rain (I'm looking at you Chad and Graham), you all missed out. The weather was pretty good for most of the day, abit cold but the rain stayed away. The track itself is really good, really liked it. Much more interesting than sandown, some great turns, surface is good and there's lots of run-off.. perfect for those of us that are just getting into racing. We ended up getting just 4 zeds (Pete, Alex, Tim and me). Also had a few spectators, Pete's family, Kirby, Paul (aka method), Andrew with the cameras and Mike who piloted my zed around for a session. Good to know that my zed can withstand such a long hard session without brake fade or tyres going off. We started out in a big pack of cars and then he overtook pretty much everything and we ended up in clean air, was pretty intense from the passenger seat. Looking forward to doing a proper track day up there when it's not as crowded. Found it pretty hard to drive with so many cars on the track, some were ex-race cars and there were a few heroes out there trying to emulate skaife/lowndes etc... door to door racing through corners is pretty scary when you're trying to learn a track for the first time. Still, for $30 it's definitely worth it, especially if you manage to do 4-5 sessions for the day. Awaiting pics from Krausy.
well it was a awesome day , the weather was good , the track was nice , heaps of cars out there ,,, that black commodore race car , well what can i say to him ,, maybe next time dikkkkk head ,he was flying up and overtaking all these cars behind me (erratically ) when he came up to me, i guess he had to stay there , where he belongs , behind me , ( 300zx power ) he could not go anywhere ( stuff him ) at the end i let him over take me , as i see he was getting a little toey. he did try BUT HE FAILED .. but all in all . i was an interesting day ,,, personally i like sandown , to me this was a small technical track , my day started of in a bad way , i put fuel in at ( shell ) wastgate servo on Tuesday night ( standard place for me ) , when we got up teere i felt the car drank more fuel then expected , so we went to another shell servo in winton , and put in another 25 litters of fuel. ( BIG MISTAKE ) , on the track it was pinging like crazy , and was not making the power it should ... so i did some laps , trying to waist the fuel , went back to the pits and i put about 10 litter of my 110 race fuel ,( same chip ) , and the pining went away , so the fuel balanced itself out , i guess ..but it still was not 100% but way better .... after that , my second section , was a blast , power everywhere, i had my missus in the car with me at the time and she was screaming at me to slow down , but i guess we were driving like ??????????????.. i drove the car there and i drove it home
sorry guys... would have come to watch, but I've been sick all week and didnt feel any better yesterday.. Next time though....
Good stuff guys... was the 4 door gtr factory or has he converted it? did they release a 4 door gtr?? love that merc....nice
4-door GTR was available ex-factory, up to the R34 model equivalent. Merc belongs to Method (ex-Zedder but still a friend). OMG, AMG has some mumbo, too! If it's the same one he took on the GOR cruise a couple of years ago, it would probably out-run many of the forum's Zeds.
i had a blast, best $30 i ever spent. thanks to sandeep for letting me have a go, my red boxen didn't make it due to no tyres and min thickness brakes. next time... we had cameras in the car hidden in the glove box. should have taken them out to record the session but we both forgot. also that was a real factory R33 4 door GTR. i thought it was a pose mobile with GTR badges but then remembered I uploaded a vid of a real one ages ago. the first real one i've seen in the flesh. rare but still butt ugly though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kgb8gtNmYPo
MSCA do sprints there, NDSOC go to all the MSCA stuff. The Alpha club seem to be pretty active too, they might be worth looking into. There is probably a website for the track with a calendar of events around somewhere, that would probably be the best way to find out who holds track days there.

Easy - join NDSOC. Last run for 2009 for NDSOC at Phillip Island is Sunday August 30th. I've put this up several times before; I don't get why some forum members that are keen on some track action don't join up? Annual fees $65; and I don't know if an AASA licence will be accepted or if Phillip island is a CAMS only licence. If you don't want to join NDSOC then join PIARC or one of the many other CAMS affiliated clubs that runs at the Island.

Was a good day out once again, good for all that the track remined dry for most of the day! Straight into the pictures (with some short video clips to follow soon), there will be many more on my website later this week, prolly have a dozen of each zed (cant help but take lots of my favourites! Great pics Andrew, would've been good to have your zed out there too but then there'd be less pics of us ... you'll have to teach one of us how to use your cameras so we can get some shots of your car next time.
