Hi Guys, i just about to book the Z for window Tint but they ask 20%-35% or 50% i just don't have any idea.. any one of you guy's can tell me what the legal tint in NSW please Thanks Anthony
35% I believe is the darkest legal shade, at least here in NSW. Not sure about the other states. Anthony, can you kindly PM me the details about your tinting? I can hook you up with a mate of mine who's got a shop, for discounts... Arvin
35% is darkest legal tint. I'm running 25% on the fronts, 10% on the quarters and 20% on the hatch window. The japanese imports are allowed "privacy" tint, I was in a heated argument with a vehicle inspection unit about it. Worked in my favour, his supervisor agreed. Privacy tint I believe is hatch, and two back quarters.
And the targas can be as dark as you want... but you arent allowed anything on the front.... have fun going over the pits with that lol not that i would want anything near 25 when driving at night :/
so far as privacy tint, i heard the same thing, i'm going 5% on the back and sides and the doors will be 25 or 20. as for the targas, i've been told not to tint them, something about the tint film affecting the targa glass??? pretty vague as to why i was told not to tint but i've heard something similar a few times now. Here you go for right way to determin VLT= Visual Light Transmission, copied this as it was well explained... ''VLT means "Visible Light Transmission". It represents the ratio of the amount of total visible light that is allowed to pass through the tint. For example 35%, VLT allows 35% of the total visible light to pass through the tint. 5% VLT only allows 5% visible light to pass through and so is therefore a darker tint". This for most states includes WA. 35% minimum VLT is legal for passenger vehicles. 20% minimum legal for rear commercial windows. Cops are more worried about if they can see you wearing seatbelts & in some other cases communication visualy with motorists, hence the VLT limit.
My z has maybe (not exactly sure) 5% tint on side, quarter and hatch windows. It's great for privacy (can't see in even when standing directly next to it) and keeps the inside cool on a hot summer day. At night it sucks. I can't reverse out my driveway without the windows down, and the rear hatch is just a wall of black. looks sexy though. If I was to get it done, I would go 20 - 25%
20% on door glass and 5% on quaters, targas and hatch. Go as dark as you can on the targas so when you have the covers off in summer you don't feel like your being roasted
By the book it is only 35% if you are factory and pre 92 Technically speaking by RTA NSW is 35% is if it is factory tinted and if you are 1992 or earlier Having said that 35% should be no problem in most cases on most zeds - but it technically depends on the inspector, how technical he wishes to get in going by the book literally and whether he is having a bad day and your in his way. Take some home made cookies with you when getting it inspected and offer him one for free (make sure its not interpreted as a bribe- lol) Dark tint is best! Cheers
Take the cookies Im thinking of and he'll most likely approve it with a Rolls Royce Merlin V12 fitted....... oh... sorry........ my bad... L8r E
