Hi Zedders, after spending countless hours and over $600 trying to fix my steering issues, i'm now willing to pay anyone in Perth North that knows anything about electrical if willing to help me out, as this is driving me nuts. Sometimes have power steering and at times no power steering at all. Anyways, thanks in advance, mobile No is 0413291344 or PM me. Cheers and safe driving

does no power steering corespond to your speedo playing up and the odometer stopping working?

My guess is HICAS control unit or power steering rack solenoid.

power steering rack solenoid has been changed, power steering pump has been changed and steering rack has been changed

    which scenario are you suggesting,

You have power steering then no power steering or
you have minimal power assistance and then maximum power assistance?

Obviously the Z has speed sensitive power steering, so it's 99% likely to be a bad connection to the solenoid.

Change PS/HICAS computer in the pass. side foot well.

Also worth resoldering connections on the back of the speedo cluster.

Have a power steer flush done and replace any leaking hoses. Look closely at the Suction hose on the bottom of the resivour for leaks, these are prone to sucking air.

What was the actual issue, and cure? ...for future reference/searching. :)

Resoldered dry connections and some contact spray did the trick.

Is that the control box that sits behind the ECU?
