http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=56869 Please say yes. These are exactly what I've been looking for
aren't they the same as these: Scroll down a tiny bit? Chrome black. http://www.uniqueautosports.com/pricelists/pricelist_wheels.htm
They'll fit. However the fronts may require some guard rolling to fit the 235 without scrubbing with the +26 offset. Rears are fine with the 245's on there. However if you wanted to run a 275 on them, you'll may need to roll the rear guard aswell. But if you did this, they'll look very tough. Nice agressive offsets there!
How much would guard rolling set me back? I'd be keeping the tyres that come on the wheels (245s on back) so wouldn't need to roll the rears, but just wondering about the fronts. Has anyone here done it?
Usually most tyre shops can actually do this for you. I've heard they charge around the ~$40 per corner. I carefully did mine myself which turned out just fine, but i've also done this before which helps. The last thing you'd want is to stuff up accidently while doing this yourself if unsure what to do. You can just put these wheels on first, then see how the clearance goes before you go to crazy though. It also has to do with tyre brands and how rounded the corners are, it may even clear fine yet. See how you go btw, great looking wheels!!! :zlove:
Benny said fronts "may" need rolling. I'm gonna go on a limb and say you probably won't need to. There is a good chance they will fit without modifications.
Yep, may in fact fit without modification. It also has a lot to do with suspension setup. I'm not sure what JD-3193 is running. On stock suspension, i've heard of 235's on +30 offset rims rubbing when cornering, but either rolling the guards - or stiffening up suspension will cure this in no time at all. But as said before, try it out and see. it may be just fine I'm running 235's on front with +22 offset rims with my car lowered 2". and i've had to tightly roll the guards and really stiffen my coilovers up, but no scrubbing at all though.
Ok, see how you go. even though it's lowered it may still be not too bad considering it would no doubt be a lot stiffer than stock. if it scrubs, just get the fronts rolled and all will be right with the world Same when when you're ready to replace the skinnier tyres on the rear with fatter ones, see if they fit, if it scrubs then just roll them too. they'll probably fit up to a 275, or maybe even a 285 on those 9.5" +35's if you roll the guards tight enough Enjoy your new rims! :zlove:
Thanks for the advice Benny Still not 100% sure if I will get them. Depends how much tread is left on the tyres and how bad the supposed gutter rash is. If that's all sweet then I'll offer the guy $2000.
Okay, bargained him down to $2100. Rears have 70% tread and fronts have 90%. The only catch is I have to wait 8 - 10 weeks while he waits for his new rims to come in from Japan. I told him if I find anything else I like in the mean time I'll buy that, otherwise I'll keep the money set aside for his wheels. Cheers guys Helpful as always!
Did a bit of research and turns out that guy's price was a bit of a rip off. He claimed those tyres to be worth $1800 when actual fact they were worth about half that So basically I think I'll buy brand new. Found these on eBay... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DTM-Rush-Whe...ZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5884131a32 Same design. Slightly different offset. Sorry to ask again, but will these fit? I don't fully understand offsets and all that. Maybe someone could explain it to me if it's not too much trouble?
Yeah the silvia guys run specials on those exact tires, I think about $200 a tire. So ya, not even worth half.
man fix up the zed first. you will have awesome wheels and a non-running zed. rebuilt or not, the smoke is not good JD. maybe read up on some tech or have a tech day and spend the money more wisely on a plenum pull etc. then go nuts on the wheels. they are not going anywhere IMO.
Well if anyone here knows how to do a plenum pull feel free to come round and do it. I will shout lunch, beers, whatever people want. Hopefully I could learn something from the experience too.
