    HI

A while back i was having trouble with my auto trans in my zx.
at first it would Rev out to about 4000rpm then it would jerk in to the next gear. then a day or so later it would stay in the one gear and wouldnt change.

So i took it in to the mechanic to check it out.
mechanic said that the car was taking of in third and that he had to reset some error codes. after that the car drove like magic.

then some time after i noticed that the car was slugish on take off when flawed. Then when i went to flatten it while driving along most of the times i wouldnt get any kick back.

So again i took it back to the mechanic to get it checked.
    same problem

why do the error code keeps Returning, had them reset but i know they will just come back.

Has any one been through this and if so how can i get it fixed??

    THANKS

    the codes return because....

Not sure what the falt codes are havent been told

    HI

I have been taking the Zed To mildrens on west Theberton Road.
They done a very nice job tuning the car when i first got it.

had an oil change and they have gone through the whole car to see if there any problems with it. theres a small leak coming from the speedo tranducer i think thats what it is called and also the power steering they said it isnt that bad to be too worried.

they mainly deal with rotary's but they know there cars and they buid up race cars too so that has to mean somthing.

hard to find anyone in adelaide you can realy trust. im think that a Nissan dealer might know how to read the codes.

The machanic said if the problem Returns they will have to investigate what it could be they also said that the trans is older then whats on the clock so i might need a service or maybe a new ecu or trans who know.

    Thanks for your help

mate wat part of town are u from??

    are u from west side?

there could be s few places that side of town that could chek the auto trans codes.....

other thing worth doing to buying a datascan cable... for abut $120 and downloading the datascan software to chek it yourself.. we can help u more if u find out the code numbers.

    HI Again

I Did search around like you said and found some complaining of sorta the same problem on a 240sx. somthing about pushing the overdrive button on strat up to see if theres a code fault and repatively pushin the O/D here is the link http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/141499

DO you think that the 300zx and the 240sx do get the same problems and use the same method to fix? still looking for more info at this moment.

i have noticed on start up some time that the power light on the dash sometime flash?

What do you all think on the matter? Thanks

    power light flashing....

the flashing power light means that your auto box is having trouble communicating with the AT controller which is a separate computer that rests in the passenger side footwell next to your main ECU....

I currently have an AT controller for sale as it was left behind in my car when it was converted to manual and as such I no longer no need it. I'm selling for $50...

but I suggest that before you spend money on something, get a proper diagnosis that it is infact the AT controller..... best thing to do would be to meet up with someone in your state and put there AT controller in your car and see if your problems go away.... hell it could even be a lose wire somewhere in the loom that connects to the controller....

are you getting a code 54??? as this means that your AT controller is buggered...

    red32 You talkin' to me?

    Several easy steps to follow...
Go to this link from the Tech pages
    http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnettech/autodiag/autodiag.html
Print the page then follow the instructions.

You say your car feels sluggish. Does is seem to start off in 3rd gear, and not respond to manually moving the shift selector lever?
Does the power steering seem heavier than normal?
Does your ABS no longer work... brakes seem to need heavier pedal application.
Does your speedo needle rotate when you rev the engine while still in Park?

If you answer Yes to any or all of these Q's, then I'll bet that your speed sensor circuit or throttle position sensor circuit is the cause of the problem (code 2 or 3 from the diagnostic procedure).
Can often be fixed by cleaning and tightening the connectors on the TPS, and the Grey connector alonside the TPS.

There's been a few cars with this problem lately... maybe it's the new common fault! Good luck.

Most of the time my speedo Dos'nt work

IT was at one stage jerkin in to gears then it was stuck in 3rd then i had it rested then that part was fine

The guy who rested didnt tell me what the code where maybe they thought it wasnt a big deal?

i have noticed my speedo come on at random at first while driveing along it would just sit on zero then when it feels like it the needle would jerk up and down and it would go on the speed that i was doing or just drop back down again. it fustrating when your trying to avoid speed cameras.

realy just driveing it around you wouldnt think that theres anything wrong with how it drives just these small things you can notice when you give the car abit.

im not very cluey about everything under the engine bay so where abouts can we find the TPS ?

    Thanks
