I think im falling in love with them hey.

The more i look, the more I admire the stylish classic lines of the late 70's sports car.

    Damn it they're friggin hot.

What are they like to look after?

    Performance?

    Number of seats lol

Ill do some googling and theres a woman at work with a 240, 260, and 300, so ill chat to her too.

Pricey though from my initial searches

Anyone on here got one/had one and want to comment?

That's the thing though, a Datsun Z in that condition you wouldn't even want to drive around really! You almost want one that needs a little bit of work, aslong as it's not rusted from the inside out of course. Then do what the yanks do, drop in a big honkin V8 and go run 11s all day! lol One in 100% original condition I would leave completely as is though...

Wow do you really know that little about our cars? lol

Common swap in the states is the L28ET from the 280ZX into the 240z, makes for one very badass machine whilst still keeping it "sorta" original! EFI turbo for the win! ;)

    Damn it.

Im gonna stop looking before I run out and buy something and then get told by the wife to choose between it and the 300ZX

    game over

    I got a couple 280zx's

One is purely for bits and to help patch up the other one.

A lot more common so cheaper to get my hands on. I wanted a 240/260 with stuffed motor but good body since mine require more work then Im willing to put in atm but even then they fetch a premium. With what I want to do I'd hate to turn one more origanal into a transplant patient.

Z cars are Z cars man! You gotta know where it all started! Half of the people around here probably didn't even know the Z31 existed. The Z32 just came out of thin air magically one late afternoon in the mid 90's! LOL

The 280ZX has a love/hate relationship with some of the old school datsun guys. It has alot of fluff that the earlier models didn't have and it was pretty much the beginning of the Z car evolving from a bare bones sports car into a GT car. Love them or hate them, it's a Z car none the less!

My dream Datsun would be as I mentioned above, a 240Z with an L28ET. Sex!

    hehe just playing with ya.

Know "about" the 240 and 260, but in my head it then jumped to the Z31. Never heard of the 280 lol.

So for a PURE sports car, im looking at 240 and 260 then?

WAIT.... IM NOT FRIGGIN GETTING ONE lol

To be perfectly honest with you, when I first got a Z I was the same and I hadn't heard of the 280ZX either! lol The older Z cars, Z31's and earlier are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Sometimes you just come across one you simply MUST have! Got no room? Park it on the grass! lol Got no money? Get a loan! There will come a time in the future where you simply will not find them period!
