Hi guys .. over the last week or so i noticed a faint whine .. i went for a drive on the weekend and noticed that the faint whine is more like a yell.

And no its not my wife:LOL:

How much am i up for ??? how long does a diff usually take to fix ....

The Zed diffs (TT and N/a) are pretty bullet-proof. I suspect that

there will therefore be a reasonable supply of these. I think they're about $300 secondhand. Also, Tektrader was selling a new N/A diff recently for about $600 (I think - apologies if I got this wrong). I doubt that you could repair a diff for $300, so I'd just source a 2nd hand one. btw they are heavy buggers!!

I reckon a couple of hours labour to remove / refit.

    Cheers,

    Peter

More likely to be a wheel/axle bearing noise, than a diff noise.

    But

the noise only comes when under acceleration. Normal slow driving you dont really notice but when you accelerate a little harder it becomes quite loud ...plus i had it up on hoist and gave the wheels the diagonal push and pull and they are tight as ... unless its that bad they are starting to sieze..time for a coffee chills...

i had to get mine done i think it was like $650 to get the diff rebuilt and

about 300 in labour to rip it off put it back on etc. i would be buying the new one off tektrader and get a mate to put it in.

i'm thinking maybe you're on the wrong track

it sounds like it may just be the age old 'second and fourth gear causing the gear boot to lift at the front and let the noise in'. Many have mistaken this for gear of diff troubles.

    Diffs usually only

Whine on over run or trailing throttle, be more inclined to think its a gearbox related problem.
