Does anyone have any ideas on if it would be easier to replace a rear hatch or replace a spoiler. Our rear spoiler is in bad shape and we just bought a great tail gate with a great spoiler on it (thank you very much, Flame :zlove:) From what we understand, neither job is easy, but does anyone know which might be the lesser of the two? The new tail gate is exactly the color of the car already. We also got a fender from Flame (thank you again :D) that bolted right up and was a perfect match immediately. So, the color is perfect.
    Thanks

Replacing the entire hatch will be the best choice(simply because it won't require any filling, sanding, drilling or painting). Both alternatives are a pain in the neck, but definitely do-able.:zlove:

It's looking like that's what we'll do, then.....thanks so very much for that. Fabulous color on your car....is it silver or white? We have a silver on one of our 280's that absolutely glows, it's very flashy and full of life. LOVE it!!!!

i would say replace the hatch because how many people have been able to remove the wing without breaking it?

good point......wouldn't even have thought of that.....someone said run fishing line down the sealant if we went that route? we're starting to replace the whole tail gate now, it is a bit of a pain, especially trying to join up the wiring, guess it'll have to be soldered????

No way, You just unplug the looms inside the hatch and run the wires out. Ive done 3 hatches in the past 2 months. Quite easy now. DONT cut them.

In other news, do you still have the rear bumper and the pass side door from ryans car ?

Thanks for that, I was thinking to unplug the looms inside the hatch but then I couldn't figure how to remove the plastic trim covers to get at the wiring. The wires have already been cut on the donor hatch we just bought this morning.

We still have those bits on Ryan's car. We especially needed the auto/drive shaft/steering knuckle and ignition switch. We also have a 2+2 so we are still assessing whether to keep or sell other bits from Ryan's car so can we let you know later on the bumper/door? p.m. us your details and we'll definitely get you fixed up when we know what's going on with our car that we just bought that is currently in the shop unfortunately having lots of work done :-(

    Cheers,

Try loosening all the other bolts first. Sometimes when you've tightened 3 bolts, the fourth one doesn't quite line up and so won't go in.

Thanks for that.....that's actually what we did as a last resort before we lost daylight and it worked!!! we loosened the other 3 and david was able to contort his by this time almost crippled hand to a different angle and jiggled it a bit and it worked!!! that's a job and a half right there!!!!!

i could be wrong here but did you buy the black 2+2 off tekky?

i just hope u don't take off the hatch all for nothing and THEN realise flame's hatch is a 2+0 hatch which won't fit.
