Where to buy boot gas supports?

Does anyone know where to buy the gas support bars / raisers that lift the boot up?

I believe they can be re-gassed but would prefer to buy new ones, found them for a 350z but not a 300. guessing they would probably be different.

I contacted a mobile regas guy, he drove over had a look at the length of the boot struts and sold me some new ones that he happened to have in stock in his truck.
There is a phone number on this page.

When they ask "how much gas pressure" show them this video.

Z1 HP are great replacements for the OEM hatch struts. I have them in my Z, definitely recommend them

    Mine aren't Z1.
The regas guy watched the video and decided that he wouldn't be able to pump enough gas pressure into the skinny OEM struts, so he used the heavy duty (larger diameter, looks similar to Z1) with clip release. I think they are for caravan/camper to raise the roof section.

    ah fair enough my mistake

If you are inclined to get the best for your Zed, do what Adam did and get Z1 Ultra High Pressure model.

I would have if they were available and as cheap over here as in USA.
If you get a generic model, go for the thickest that will fit because they can pump more gas under pressure into the reservoir.

The other link I posted above shows the geometry of the struts, I am not sure if it also discusses the rest position of the strut and the orientation at rest.
If it does, then (I am told) the design flaw in the Zed is that the strut is not in an ideal rest position, the telescoping shaft is higher than the reservoir and according to a couple of those strut guys, this allows some of the gas to creep past the oily seal, as it becomes less oily compared to a seal that is below the reservoir and always covered in oil, because of gravity.

The gas strut guy told me to open my hatch once a week to allow the oil to move to the seals.

Z32 is the only hatch that I have noticed where the rest position has the telescoping section above the reservoir.

Is the warning BS or NOT? Do your own reading and make up your own mind.

When I went to a strut regas guy for a quote, he said that they would be difficult to regas because of one of the top parts of the strut/clip not being an easy part to remove (mine were fine for stock, but not strong enough pressure for the extra wing). I think he was implying it would have to be snapped out then replaced to get access to inside the pressurised strut. He advised getting replacements, as it would be cost more having to regas and get parts, so I got mine from CZP.

Lol what do you think the Z1 struts are?
