Does anyone know what a good cover is to use for protecting Z's that only have a carport to park in? (Brands maybe?) And where to buy them from? :s
Yeah, think the alarm is sorted.... ...Viper of some kind. Keepin' the crims out, just need to sort something out for the weather now! hehe
One of the best is made by Autotechnica> available at most parts shops (Autobarn, Scotts A1, Supercheap Auto, etc.) Completely waterproof, with fleecy interior lining. It also has air vent flaps along the top edges, so that it won't sweat the paintwork on hot days. Cheers Lloyd :-Z
Good stuff...! Thx Chili - that sounds like a top one! :YD We're heading to Supercheap Thurs night for some polish & armourall etc anyway so I'll check it out then! Mmmm... car care & cleaning has never been so fun!
Hold up..which armorall?.... Piece of advice, dont use armorall to clean the dash. You will get terrible misting of your windscreen that never washes off. Thats my experience anyway. The fumes from that stuff is terrible for glass.
Recommended by Detailers >> that you use Baby Oil on all leather using an applicator at lease once every 6 months.:YD Only a light coating. It will keep all leather nice and supple and stop your dash from cracking.:YD :-Z Cheers Kerry
Just the spray stuff for interior trims... ...Get it from Supercheap. I know what you mean tho - have gotten it directly on the windscreen by accident before... not good! It's a bugger to get off & just leaves a horrible misty/oily film all over it. hehe... don't get it on the steering wheel either - had some fun with that once! Damn slippery stuff!
Totally agree with chili i have 3 cars all with Autotechnica covers ,you can buy them at kmart as well as all the other places chili listed ,i find if you have a rear wing it is best to go for the XL cover, i think it costs about $119 oh and im glade you like my wheels:YD
get the Viper 791xv alarm next time your at colin's workshop ask to have a look at mine ,its a top alarm that has a 2way paging service if someone tampers with your car .not cheap but worth every cent:YD
Hadn't thort of sizes yet... ... what size would you say is best for a stock, 2 seater then? There won't be any big wings or anything like that going on it.
Simon has one @ www.ttzed.com > check it out, don't have the exact link here but you should be able to find it in the parts section fairly easily
Cheers Mathius! Had a quick look around the site & they've also got some decals & other bits & pieces I was going to track down - know where I can get all those odds & ends now too!
mr TT...Checked out some of those alarms at Northfield Car Sound today - you're right, they're not particularly cheap but they really seem worth it. 3 point immobilising along with a 2-way paging - should buy enough time to grab a nice metal bar & be back at the Z to beat the life outa the crims! 8( Wouldn't mind a GPS too! Just in case I'm running in heels & they manage to get down the street a bit! hehe
Chilli, Cheers on the advice...! We grabbed an Autotechnica cover tonight as recommended & they definately seem the best quality. Had a look at a few of the other brands on offer - most of them seemed too cheap & dodgy.Happy with the purchase! Thx to everyone for your help & advice!
It's evil stuff... We sprayed it once on the dash of an old car we had for years. The dash was in perfect conditions with no cracks or anything. within a month of spraying it on it had a number of cracks. The stuff looks great when fresh but I suspect when it dries out it makes the dash brittle.Just my 2.2cAB
The ultimate immobiliser is Brant. 3 point, all black wiring, auto arming. Preferred choice of many insurance companies. Standard issue on WRX's. They come out and install at your place, not cheap- Bout $375ish Link hereAlternatively, "Action auto security - Robert" 0408 984000" will fit onsite also a new 3pt Mongoose MX40 for about $240
