Wheel offset calculator

I found a wheel offset calculator:
    http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

    Are these assumptions correct?:
Now, if we have 8.5" wheels with a 35mm offset stock (rear), changing to a 10.5" wheel with a 22mm offset would reduce the inner clearance by 12mm (no problem here) and extend the wheel out by 38mm (again no problem?)

    Does this sound right?

I get that wheel will stick out 38.25mm more on the front and 2mm more on the inner given its a 262.5mm wide rim

Firstly we have 16 x 7.5 +45 all the way around. We don't have 8.5" rears like the yanks got.

Secondly, there is no way that a 10.5" +22 wheel will fit on a stock bodied Z.

You'd need something like a 45 offset or higher to get it to fit.

I don't really understand. 10.5" 22+ offset wheel will have 15mm less clearance while a 45+ offset will have 38mm less clearance than stock (7.5" 45+)? So it will be more likely to hit the HICAS and inner strut won't it?

Or by not fit, do you mean not fit under the guard and be out too far?

    ^^ That.

I believe hitting the HICAS is only an issue on 17" or smaller sized wheels. 18" clears.

Ahh, gotcha. Pretending the fitting under the guard isn't an issue. I'm more wondering if there will be issues in drivability. Because, not fitting under the guards is what I'm trying to get happening with the wide body kit, and this type of setup (10"+ wide with a low +ve offset) seems to be the way to get it not looking too "skinny".

This is what a 18 x 10.5 +15 looks like. Those fenders were worked hard, and they still stick out.

How much wider is the widebody?

I don't know enough about suspension setup to tell you how the increased track will affect handling. I think it will understeer more, but yeh, I don't know enough.

It's the beet kit. Very wide. But I just found the beet kit runs these:
Wheel Front : Work Euroline FE 18inchi 8.5JJ OFF +11
Wheel Rear : Work Euroline FE 18inchi 10.0JJ OFF +-0

So, to get it flush, looks like you want the wheel to come out nearly 8 cm more than stock. So, 10.5 with 15+ offset should work. I'm just trying to find a size the Ray's TE37's come in.

The picture I posted is of TE37's.

Thanks for the pics. They look like they would fit perfect. Damn hot too :p

Just need to watch yahoo auctions because brand new they are like $4000 - $5000 a set when you add in shipping and importing and all. :(

Also, why does the Z have black tape across all the lights. Is that a safety requirement?

Some race regulations say that any forward facing glass at the front of the car has to be taped (lights, foglights etc)... guess it's incase of a crash to prevent shards of glass flying everywhere. You'll see it on the R32's as well.

Using the offset calculator above, this is what I come up with.

    Wheels:

    Stock - 7.5 +45

F: 17x9 +38 Result - Inner Clearance: 12mm LESS Outer Position: EXTEND an extra 26mm

R: 18x9.5 +45 Result - Inner Clearance: 25mm LESS Outer Position: EXTEND an extra 25mm

    Will this work ?

Tyres 255/40-17 front and 265/35-18 rear, maybe slightly wider on the rear.

This is pretty much the Stillen SMZ setup, but I don't know what offsets the AVS wheels were on it, anyone know ?

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

I'd say with those rear offsets, you'd be fouling your inner guard or your fuel filler guard (if it's a 2+2).

If you want those F:9" & R:9.5" sizes and those tyre widths you mentioned, just get +35 offsets all round, it'll fit fine with maybe minor guard rolling on the rears. Or if you don't want to roll anything, use a +38 offset on the rears but keep the +35 for fronts.

It all comes down to what "look" you want for your Zed, and what mods you're prepared to do to guards for the more flush look.

I wouldn't trust a wheel offset calculator personally, it doesn't know the characteristics of our particular guards, clearances, fouling issues, etc... I'd just search for previous wheel size and offset experiences on here

I have 18x10+42 with 255's on the back and they are flush if not slightly poking out. Stock guards...

Do they scrub at all Mike ?

I hear what your saying Benny as far as trusting a wheel calculator, btw its a 2+2.

I did manage to find some SMZ specs on twinturbo.net.

I think I have the SMZ offsets at F: +38 R: +40, using that the rear would be Inner Clearance: 20mm LESS Outer Position: EXTEND an extra 30mm.

Net result 5mm more inner clearance and stick out an extra 5mm, compared to the SMZ setup.

    Should fit (I think)

Does the 2+2 have better or worse clearance then the 2 seater ?

No scrubbing at all under any conditions. Stock (prob sagging springs) and konis

^ above two comments are the most true on here.

9F +35, 9.5R +35 will fit nicely. hardly any body work needs to be done.
and wheel offset calcs are ok, but it comes down to tyre, camber etc.

look up peoples fitment that you like, search the american site and make it happen. i got 18x 10 +4's under the rears. too camber + stretch to do it. but thats the look i like. a +40 ish in a 10" is ideal.
