Hi guys, I'm looking at mounting my digital camera somewhere inside the car to record a few track day expoits....

It's only a little digital camera but the video quality is very good and I have a big enough memory card to store at least a few laps.

The camera has a screw hole in the bottom that is a standard size for mounting on a tripod.

It's actually going to be inside my 280zx and not the 300zx, although the interior setup of both cars is fairly similar. BTW it's a 2+2.

I was looking at Franz's video and by the looks of things it's mounted some where behind the passenger seat, but as to what he has attached it to is a mistery to me.

anyone have ideas on an effective mounting areas, techniques and/or hardware required?

    Ideally,

Solid mounting would be best, but you'd have to be carefull the vibrations didnt damage the camera.

If you do a search on Franz's posts.....>>

He has posted details of the mount he uses and pictures of it. With that being said, scrutineers and event orgabnisers are getting tougher with the standards that are acceptable for camera mounts. The mounting screw in the base of a camera was not designed to survive the 40+ Gs that a high speed accident involves and to prevent the camera from becoming a lethal missile in the car a number are requireing that the camera be enclosed in a case that is mounted solidly to a structural part of the car. You don't "have" to do that at all events, but you should want to make it as safe as possible.
