I have an 89 J-Spec 300zx and i have only just read on here about PTUs and how they fail ect Apparently they fail at 100,000-130,000 ? As my car reads 134,000+ i am starting to wonder what series mine is i am assuming that it is a series 1 Pics http://i48.tinypic.com/w9v1xk.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/1zqg7xd.jpg If it is a 1, what is the best thing to do, to either wait till it fails and try to repair it as in this guide http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.270 or can you just buy the newer one and it would bolt right on? Also how much do they cost
Thats a Series 1. Get a Series 2 when you can and swap it. No point in fixing them, they will just fail again... As for when they fail it seems to be pretty random, not directly related to k's.
ok, where is the best place to get a S2 one? off a Z thats being parted off on this forum, or is there a specific site that sells them?
Call Eric at A2Zed, he's got second hand series 2 PTU's for sale at a good price. http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300108
as mentioned... s1.. if you want new.. http://www.cazracing.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=38&products_id=260 or if your not desperate, get it from the states.
