No freakin' way! I'd even joked about it on the day haha. Won't work as well plus I'm traditionally running both sides to keep the balance.
I'd like to say it finished... but it's still not yet. Need to paint the top of the guards Blue, fit the passenger door handle and mirror, Paint the roof strips Black, clear coat the temporary bonnet, (will finish vented bonnet one day ), lower the front (maybe even space the front wheels out further) get a full alignment and then MAYBE, I can go for a test run. Also need to find copious amounts of silver zip zies! Guards like this!
It's targa as you know, so I don't really have a roof to paint. That's what I meant by roof strips. The strip above the windscreen and the strip above the hatch. Still looks like a car. Also should mention fitment of Al's roof spoiler.
Yeah I only did a quick job to clear the rims but with some time and care, it'd look good. Worked well. Will try and drop it back next week. If not then Saturday if Eric feels like working.
Glad it worked. No rush returning it. Will be some time before wanting to use it myself. Come a long way from the rattle can days. Looking too good for a track car only
What spray can days? I heard this 571CKY fella was the dodgy rattle can bandit. Yeah, it looks ok. I now want to buy another Z for the street and paint it the same only better.
Be proud of how you've evolved. Embrace the rattle can People are often quick to criticise, but rarely praise. Definitely looking good. Time for another rum.
Paint mine. If my $3500 cash respray on my TT looked half that good, I'd be stoked. I now get to the stage where it needs a respray, then buy another 300, caus I can't paint.... and it needs a respray also. Its a vicious cycle. When you predicting to have it on the track again? Might make an effort to see what its all about
Thinking about sticking with the stock bar for the convenience of the shorter dimensions and flexibility. Getting this thing on and off the trailer as low as it is, is hard enough without wrecking things. Will keep the good bar for showing it off though. Will also be fitting steering rack spacers and seriously considering the depowering of my steering as well. Constant transitions left to right all the time isn't helped with slower responding power steering when I can get direct feel and quicker feedback without it. Yes it will be heavier but only getting around the pits, out on the track, the car does most of the work. Also falls under my "back to basics" and "less to fail" attitude... Oh, and less weight!
Ok, quick update. Took the car down to Mercury Motorsport yesterday to set the boost and timing before taking it out for a test drive at Archy's drift practice last night. Car went ok considering the bad alignment and a few electrical issues. Already have some drift damage and even knocked the sump plug on an apex for being so low. The car drives very differently to how it did last year due the loss in weight, different alignment and the locked diff. It likes to understeer a little more than normal so hopefully I can sort that out too. After that it's down to blowing the dust of and getting back into good form again. Now I have a few repairs, gremlins and mods to be sorted and then it should have some great potential. Here's a short vid before the sun went down. CLICKY
Pics of damage, and dyno sheet or GTFO edit: wouldn't be the first time your driven it without a sump plug
