    HI There

    I own a 1990 300zx twin turbo with the Auto Tran's.
Dead stock my car made 157.3rwkw. first mod i have done was a k&N highflow podfilter. didnt feel much of a huge gain by still better then the boxfilters.

about 3 weeks ago. i had an exhaust system fitted by D&T's.
its not a full system, all thats is done is the highflow cats, 2.5 inch stainless steel piping going in to 3inch with cannons. sounds tuff and looks very good. well i got told by the exhaust ppl that i have to drive in the exhaust about 500-800km so that the computer can ajusts it self.

A day later i notice that the gears started to change late and would jump in to gear. I thought it was nothing that it was just the computer making ajustment. so i let it go thinking it would sort it self out. then about 3days later i notices that the car was staying in just the one gear. so i took it in the mechanic to check out the problem i thought the trans was gone.

It turn out that there was error codes and that it was taking off in 3rd he reseted it and after that it went fine. last week i had it dynoed.
made 173.9rwkw i was expecting more.:(

That about 17rwkw increase is that wat should be expected ?
sorry about the life story

    Sounds about right

    What was the A/F ratio?

If your car is dead stock, those figures are perfect! A stock TT produces 208KW at the engine. 40-50KW loss through the drive train is normal. It has been estimated that a POD filter and zorst should give you aout an extra 20-25KW at the engine so with drive train loss, an extra 17KW at the wheels is about where it should be.

Remember that getting most benefit out of those two upgrades is when boost pressure is increased but most importantly, get your ECU remapped (chipped).

    Thanks for the Info

    Thanks everyone for the info.

not sure what the a/f Reading is but im sure it would be fine since i just had the car tuned not too long ago. what is boost increase do you guys think ill be getting with the exhaust? and i do have plans on doing more mods but atm just want to get the car running and looking good first.

The guy at the Exhaust place who did the dyno did say if i got a larger intercooler and boosted it more that i would be make over 200rwkw so thats something to look forward too.

and i also i timed my car from 0-100km the take off felt very slugish then once it reached higher rpm thats when it felt the car wanted to go. i had my foot flat all the way.I made 0-100 in 6.8 i know its a shocking time for a 300zx tt but do you think there would be a slight problem with the trans or is that what is to expected?

Thank guys for all your help

Welcome to the Club Mate.. :D another SA TT

Im Frank... U better be free on Sunday the 19th for the next run...

we are goin to victor and bak.. there will be a good variety of zeds and a few modded TTs so u can see how your car goes... (within all limits i might add).

as far as 173 rears goes.. thats a very good base line to start modding it up... it means your car hasnt been hammered and its got nearly all of its stock compression and boost.

autos pull a lil less in a top end dyno but they to take off better if u know wat your doing. pod and exhaust is a good start but there is a lot of mods that u could also do! so come on the next run and find out wat we cn do!

Tell us more about your ride... ie colour , body type and other things.. and post a pic...

    talk soon
