Hey guys, i organised a small cruise around the western suburbs of Victoria on the Saturday the 19th of March. The night was cruise went fine but unfortunately I only had 1 other Z attendee join me, which was disappointing for me to but i just have to hope next year will be bigger and better. Still it was great to see Dean (bRacket) again and have a good chat with him about the differences between his beautiful 97 model to my stunning 89 model.

I want to thank Dean for coming with me on the night. I know it got cold as the night went on and the cruise only lasted short time but I enjoyed the chat we had and I hope next years revised route will make more people want to attend.

Thats a very disapointing turn out Adam. :( I thought there surely would be more support for this cruise considering all that showed interest.

Thanks Michael, there isn't much I can do about the turnout. I understand people have commitments and I am not blaming anyone for not coming. I am thinking of doing a reverse route where we go to the city spot and then head to Williamstown and so forth. Ill also host it in Jan like last years cruise as it seemed to be a lot better for attendees to come.

Cheers for the cruise Adam, bit pissed that the people who said they would come didn't rock up, or even call/text to let Adam know that they weren't going to show.

Other than that it was a good to chat zeds with someone haha. Haven't got much to add besides a few phone pics :)

Showing off my new EL panel ;)

    X 2

As an organiser of other runs, its frustrating as hell
Especially when the numbers you THINK are comming to get a discount for something thats a 'treat' on the cruise..... & the numbers fall short ....

    mutter mutter mutter arphuchem

    Adam,
Stick with it mate, eventually people will wakeup to what a great cruise you organise every year and then maybe they will support your efforts.
Sadly In Victoria we get such a short summer and with limited time available for crusing you'd think that Vic members would jump all over the few cruise's we actually have on the calendar.
With winter fast approaching, the Vic members will as per usual shortly dissappear into hibernation......

Its this attitude thats made me drop the Zumpstiens run for a 2nd year running, and another new run I was thinking of doing is now 50/50 as to whether it goes ahead or not...... in all honesty, why bother when heaps SAY they'll come yet fail everytime....

Perhaps it would be a better to discuss this elswhere, appologies for my minor 'vent'

Thanks for the kind words and support Kingy. I am not giving up, I understand that my particular cruise is not very appealing to the wider aus300zx Victorian community but I cant make people come who show interests when I post a cruise up. Cruises like the GOR everyone wants to go to because it suits most peoples wants in a cruise. A lot of the cruises I see now days are mainly more like the GOR and are mainly hosted in the far southeastern side of Victoria and I feel the GOR is enough for me with regards to that, so that's why I made my shorter city night cruise which the very small Western side of Victoria can attend. Obliviously everyone can attend but I know that people from on the other side of the city need to take the travel time to the meeting point and back again into consideration and I that is one of the reasons for the low numbers I've been getting.

All I can hope for is next years WCC, I will see the greater numbers then this years cruise and hopefully get the same amount as my first WCC i hosted back in 2007 where I had 8 Z32s attend and it was a fantastic night for me and I love every minute of it:zlove:.

Kingy you are one of the best cruise directors I know and I admire you work and am differently coming to the GOR cruise this year.

    BigCol That's what she said...

Adam, maybe it isn't the cruise route or organisation that is the problem but more one of time of the cruise. Personally I would be more interested if it started at 5pm and went til 8ish. That way the cars are in daylight for most of the event so great pics can be taken, and you can see others cars, and you can see who you're talking to. Then if people want to keep on cruising through the night or go get a bite to eat etc they can. Just a thought....

Not that time would have mattered for me this time around, as I didn't get back from Geelong until midnight. Otherwise I would have been attending.

Possiably one of the reasons for low numbers yet the intrest was shown during th pre-run posts, and members were happy enough to put their names down yet still do a no-show

I know there's always a percentage of no-show's but to get such a high percentage says there's something thats not connecting..... be it the ...

    Weather
Its a MAJOR factor with all Vic runs, I call it the Goldilocks factor, not to hot, not to cold..... just right...... whatever that is
The weather for your run was good and it was at night so no-one can even complain about the sun burn
    ;)

    Date
Conflicting events and yes even interstate dates DO have an effect on numbers supprisingly enough, inparticular motorsport events such as V8Taxi's or F1 racing, either of these two and around 25% wont attend.

You actually gave the members the choice of the date.... no excuse there !

    WOW factor
Wow factor is something thats a true highlight of the cruise, something that knocks the sox off of members in some way that makes that part of the cruise unforgetable, be it couple of choppers hovering over a field of ZX's, a magicle walk through the tree tops, or the stunning views from a huge tower... it HAS TO capture peoples attention and stay with them for weeks after the run, that way their mesmerised and waiting for the next run to come along

Its not an easy thing to find year in year out, but you have to grab peoples attention in a big way.....

In my opinion (if its worth anything or not .... debateable ;)), this 'wow factor' is one of the things thats missing from this run, if you go back through your previous runs its a tad "same old same old" which could explain a few things, bit of a case of "meh, been there done that".
Now if you could get access to ....
    http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&s...TX1JkK&usg=AFQjCNF30giO3ILad3FM70EWCc-8CpnUHg

You'd be fighting em off with a bloody big stick
    :br:

    PICS
One of the most important thing is pictures, everyone WANTS PICS, something to do with says a thousand words or some shyte..... and we have a Night run .. mmmmmm bit of a problem getting good pics at night unless you have the good gear to take em.
I'd be asking one of the more seasoned photographers on the forum to attend and do a bit of a mini photo shoot for those that attend, a kewl location ( kept secret for the wow) and some awsome night photo's will certainly capture peoples attention in a big way.

Please dont get me wrong, I dont want to 'sound criticle' of what your doing, just letting you know what I've found works with car clubs/ bike clubs / forum cruises over the many years of doing this crazy organising thingy.
    ;)

you could be onto something here Col :D

Time, early or late , older members seem to dislike lateish nights yet the younger set perfers em..... did a run for the local boys a few weeks back, it started at MIGNIGHT !! and we got 17 cars out of 21 that said they'd be there, all 17 cars made it to the finishline at a Maccas @ 6:30am

Strangely enough of the 4 cars that didnt come 2 were 'drivers under 25'

This was certainly an odd cruise and the attendees were the opposite what the norm generally is

As a distance traveler to attend Adam's run, an ealier start/finish would make my life easier for sure

    worth looking into Adam ;)

I hear what your saying Kingy. I surpose Im still a newcomer to the cruise directing thing. I have always loved night cruising in the city and thats why I chose this type of cruise and haven't tried anything else. I guess I still need to find the right mixture of time and date for my cruise.
