    Further proof..>

    That although the 300 is a great car they are not ideally suited to the track.I know the drivers of a couple of the 240's in the sprints which have no more than 80rwkw , admittedly they are very skilfull drivers but it attests to the track suitability of the smaller car.

    Excuse my ignorance but how does this points

    thing work? points for over time points for under time? Is this like drag racing where you need to dial your time and keep and not run under the time but close to it if not the same or something like that?

    Not sure how the points work..>>

    But the ordinary times of the 300's speak for themselves.

    The Regularity title speaks for itself I

    would think, like who can go around the track 3 or 4 times and maintain close to the same time each time.Good on WYKKED for having a go, couldn't care less if he wasn't up with the front runners.Doing is always better than pontificating IMHO })

    The regularity wasn't run as a true >>>

    regularity due to CAMS not permitting the organising club to run one. Apparently, CAMS demand that for a regularity event to be run, it must be organised, arranged, or whatever, by a person with previous experience in running such an event under CAMS affiliation. The guys running this one were totally new to organising such events.Unfortunately this was not explained to us prior to getting on track, and as such there was quite a bit of grumbling in the pits - mainly because drivers were asked to nominate a time prior to even going on the circuit for an initial run. They were simply told that anybody going less than 1:02 in the regularity would be disqualified. As this time was only beaten by one car during the whole event, sprints included, (though this car did quite a few 1:00's and 1:01's with 1 driver, 1:03/4's with another), this was a bit misleading, and inappropriate times were nominated.At the end of the day, when results were read out at the dinner, I was still at a loss to understand how the regularity results were arrived at.The other factor in times is that one of the short circuit options was used. The Z32's didn't get to stretch out on the back straight (maybe this was opted for by the committee, predominantly drivers of early Z's). In much the same way, the Nations Cup Monaro's didn't get a look in at Wakefield recently; the event was dominated by the less powerful but lighter and more nimble Ferrari 360GT. Horses for courses.I know Pete & Jen enjoyed their circuit time, looking forward to the next one in NSW when I should be out there as well.

    is it just a weight issue with the 300ZX

    or a driver issue. Most of the guys running older Zeds at the nationals looked like they do it fairly regularly (in fact I know they do - about once a month from memory out at Queensland raceway). I would have thought it was more driver experience related.

    Pete and Jen raced the same Z right??

    in the results table its got Pete driving a '91 Z and Jen driving an '89 Z.....yet they are the same number cars = 32.....:?) 8-}

    Correct......>>

    And it caused quite a bit of confusion for the time keepers initially which goes a little way to explaining the DNF comments against my name on the sheet, also with the way the points were tabulated (you lost more if you went faster then you did if you went slower then your nominated time) with me being faster then Jen it left me further down the field. Originally we were told that we would get a practice session to work out times as the idea is to nominate a lap time and then try and do as close to that time as possible lap after lap. Unfortunately the plan changed and we were told we had to nominate a time before we had even been on the track which was a little hard for all the out of state people, although that could explain the good showing from the QLD boys who regularly compete on the circuit. All things considered I think Jen drove exceptionally well, it was her first time driving the car in a real competition on a track she had never seen before and I wasn't alone in my opinion of her. She received special mention for her courteous and profession on track performance by several people in speaches during the presentation dinner.:YD ^D^ The layout of the circuit in QLD in it's shorter configuration was anything but suitable to the 300ZX and unfortunately the next nationals in NSW in 2005 will be at Wakefield Park which is even tighter and twistier so I'm not going to hold my breath on the Z32 sweeping all before it.
