I just pulled all the exhaust and the drive shaft out to fix the thump in the transmission tunnel.

I bought a new centre bearing etc to replace.

Funny thing is that the centre bearing was basically OK when I pulled it out. Interesting thing is that when I looked at the bearing it wasnt sitting in the middle of the bearing housing it was right down low near the edge.

Mmmm I looked at the transmission mount. Seemed OK but fairly soft.

I replaced it with a NISMO one from Simon.

Without a work of a lie. The transmission sits 15 to 20mm higher with the new mount !

I have come to the conclusion that the reason the centre bearing screws up is that the transmission mount goes soft. This pushes the centre bearing off toward the edge and screws the rubber.

Moral to the story is if you are going to do the centre bearing, change the Transmission mount as well otherwize you are probably wasting your time !
