Hi there! This is maybe a stupid question but I'd like to know why the 300ZX is such a heavy car (for a sports car). I've found a list guide to weight reduction on a different forum ( http://twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1316770 ) where basically everything has been removed that you can think of - it reduced the weight by around 700lbs - but this still leaves the car with 1200kg. Is it just a really heavy body or many different things?
Engine 300kg Gearbox 60g Diff 50kg + a heap of metal to stop it folding in half with the targa's off... it all adds up quick.
its a GT car rather than a pure bred sports car, thats why its heavy.. compare it to anything else in the same class and timeframe and you'll realise the weights are similar
What is that on That with a TT 2+2? 2 seaters are lighter, hard tops are lighter again but like the above quotes I think they are pretty light by todays standards.
Thanks for all the feedback! Yeah that's on a 2+2 I guess... Did some of you guys do a bit of weight reduction on your cars? I'm thinking about it at the moment but the Z is very balanced in weight so idealy I want to make sure what to remove to not lose performance...
