OK....so recently the drivers side bonnet squirter (sounds a bit rude doesnt it.....sounds a bit like "bum") stopped squirting (tee hee). Got under the bonnet and fiddled around with the piping to each squirter. Seems that little filter (is that a filter?) was clogged. Tried everything I could to unclog it to no avail. Had some spare piping sitting around the garage that surprisingly fit so I took the old pipes completely off, replaced with new straight through piping and filled reservoir. Tested.....worked a treat.

2 hours later the little warning light on the dash lit up like a xmas tree saying I had no water in the reservoir. It was right....

Do i need to have those little filter-y things in place? Or do I have a much more serious leak somewhere?

    Cheers boys

I think I'm in the same boat as you. Since I've owned mine I've had the dash light on too, with water. Just not sure how it all works. Good luck.

Those things you call filters are usually little one way valves. If they are cactus water dribbles out of the squirters as you drive But it would need to loose a lot thru them for the light to come on. New squirters are about $10 from repco. Maybe your tank has a split in it. Is your car a 2 seater ?.

More likely the tank has a hole rather than the check valve failing. Fill her up, let her sit for a day and check if its empty.

If its only one side that stopped working it will just be a clogged jet. They often get clogged with polish, crud etc

Get a wire brush and pull one pce of wire out of it. Straighten it up with pliers and stick it down the squirter hole and jiggle it back and forth till the blockage is gone. That will probably fix it..

YOU GUYS if only one side is working why would the tank have a hole in it ????? THINKING is way overrated. :p

Alright smarty bum, how does one blocked nozzle drain the reservoir? :p

Reading the whole post is way overrated ;)

Haha. Easy fellas - I can neither think OR read the whole post. And I wrote it...

I eliminated a nozzle issue by a) cleaning it with wire and b) connecting the passenger side pipe to see if it ran. It did. Plus....when I removed the one-way valve it squirted like (insert your favourite adult entertainer's name).

The only thing I can think is that one-way valve is cactus. I just cant understand why THAT would drain the reservoir...

Maybe its both a cactus valve and a hole in the tank?

Haha dont worry mate. Tekky was only sh*t stirring and i was only doing it back. Im sure he knows im not being personal :D

Id suggest filling up your reservoir, chucking a piece of cardboard under where it sits and leaving it for the day. That will tell you if its leaking.

Turns out i was a complete idiot, not even sure why i'm telling you guys this!!!

For the first month of owning this car i always thought i push the wider switch up to the top to make it squirt, was only this morning that i pushed the button in haha. I only have it out of one side so ill have to give the other a clean.

    Oh Well.

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

The "valve" thingies spoken of here on my Zed are long gone.
They seem to have 2 functions, one is to act as a check valve and other is to restrict flow when pump is not running.
If I leave the (2 seater) car parked nose down, the washer bottle will drain out quite quickly.

You have pretty much described EXACTLY what happened to me. Nose down and all.

Im gonna try and buy something similar, install and see what happens.
