i have an 89zx and every now and then one of my warning lights comes on, i dont no what it is. it is the middle one of the five lights on the left hand side, it looks like it is indicating something is hot or over heating, can anyone help me please?

that would be the catalytic converter overheat warning light.

If the sensors/system is working correctly, it can indicate a rich mixture (unburnt fuel) getting into the cats, and burning there creating excessive heat.

Sometimes the sensor wiring can be damaged and I believe if they earth out to the body, can have the same effect.

If the first instance, this will shorten the life of the cats, maybe get it checked out :)

    Pex is correct, plus >>>

Mine used to do the same, quite frequently. reason for K-zed's suggestion is the CAT sensor box sits to the left of the e-brake (inside the console area).

If you removed the centre console, you'll find two insulated wires from the black sensor box - one goes to the dash, and another goes under the passenger seat that disappears into the floor (wire is under carpet). When I removed the passenger seat, I found that this wire was almost completely cut, so I fixed it. Warning light stopped showing as often as before, but only sometimes when I push it hard - car still runs rich.
