Hi Guys, After a recent complete engine bay strip down I've got a rubber grommet left over that I can't place. I had labeled everything I took out but this must have been left behind and either the Sodablaster or the spray painter removed it (as it was sitting in a tray with a few other parts also removed during the stripping/painting process). Does anyone know where this grommet belongs? I'm assuming along the firewall, but really it could be from the dash forward. Cheers Mark
to me.... it sort of looks like one of the rubber gromets thats goes in the radiator mounts (bottom).... Cheers
Not the radiator grommet...I'm looking at one right now, unless TT and NA are different shape. It looks like either a firewall grommet, or possibly (I havn't looked at one for a while) the rubber sleave/grommet from the lowbeam bulb in the headlights.
How about the Grommet from the rear wheel well that has the radio antenna go through it & into the bodywork. Cheers Kerry :zlove:
It's the rubber cover that goes on the bottom of the oil pressure sender and protects the connector from engine crap. Or its the rear wiper grommet, ( got to have a bet each way )
my $0.02 werth Could it be a rubber from the old air box. I forget what they look like as that does look like the same size.
You guys are forgetting its nearly 2 inches round, well 40mm which is close enough with a 15mm hole so no its not a wiper grommet nor is it head light seal (had those out plenty of times) or ariel. Its definatly firewall judging the side view. Might be too small for your steering column but not much other reason for the flex ribs. Maybe its the rear wiper seal lol
argh!! of course I didn't even think of the rear wiper.....I had the glass removed and the hatch repainted (yet again). I'm betting that is it as well. As soon as I get home I'll check and see who was right I did think of the grommet for oil sender, but that is still there. Also thought of headlight grommet but was incorrect size. Clutch rod to booster was another thought but was wrong size. Looks like I was delaying the rest of the engine bay work for nothing I just didn't want to get everything in and bolted up to find out (yet again ) that I had missed something important. Thanks everyone, very much appreciated. Cheers Mark
