Well I am no longer a track virign! Had a brief go at Wakefield Park today. Thanks heaps to JT for demanding to get out of my car as I spun on the second corner (it was a little wet). Wizard for pointers and pit crew. Chili for moral support and decoy.

In my first session I only managed a 1:40 as I was trying to find the apexes and braking points. My second run of 2 laps before I got black flagged for an oil leak was 1:29.

Yep pretty slow but awesome fun. Can't wait to go again. Can't wait to see how Chili tops his performance next time, wink wink.

Redstuff pads are awesome on the track but simply way too noisy for street use so changing tomorrow.

    Cheers
    Geoff

Way to go Geoff, lets hear it for the non virgins, gives you something to improve on next time.
thought you would have got past the 2nd corner of your first lap before spinning though LOL.
Timed JT in the 1'11S, good stuff.
Chili a decoy ? whatever do you mean?.
    couple of pics.

Well done Geoff, you track whore.
Your getting tips from the real pro's there, you should check the vid
"what about the brakes Russ?", very informative. LOL
Once you get your focus locked in, your times will tumble.
    What was the leak mate?

Possibly two leaks. One bad one from the HICAS

bypass as the kit doesn't work on 2+2s. The second may be a hose from the PCV? Anyway have booked it in tomorrow to have look see.

Changing gears in the auto was a bit odd, must say I wish I had the Shift at will. Anywho saving the pennies.

    Cheers

    Crawled underneath

It for a look, oil seemed to be comming from up high, either, cam cover or from the pcv valve hose, and dripping onto the tubo which resulted in the smoke and the black flag, need to get it up on the hoist to have a proper look.

Not the easiest conditions for the first session of the day, Geoff did very well after his 2nd corner shenanigans. After you guys left I only managed 4 more laps as I was low on fuel, did a self timed 1.10.54 (taped my stopwatch to the steering wheel!) but seems to be better times to come with some fine tuning.

Thanks for the help JT, btw your car is AWESOME

and the way you drive is wicked. Your gear changes were so fast that along the back straight my back hurt everytime! BUT it was soooo much fun.

    Thanks again
    Geoff

Thats great Geoff! I cant wait to get out there with you. I spun my Zed second time out too Geoff, think of it this way..."the only ones who know how far you can go are those who have gone to far!" Got to find that limit somehow...
We will have to get a track day happening for when Franz is over here in September. We have a few Zedders here now willing to hit the track and it would be a hoot having him there.

Sorry to hear about the reds still being noisy, I have 1 side squealing which is odd. The EBC rep was here today and attempted to wear the coating off and bed them in for me by 'boosting and braking'...hehehee, I think he just enjoyed driving the Zed!

    .

Next UAS track day is in September at Wakefield, not sure of the date but that would be a good one for Franz to attend.

I have used the Reds once before and never found them noisy, maybe they need more time to bed in? Personally I find the yellows much better as a track pad as I wore the Reds out in 1 day! They also faded when pushed hard. As a street/occasional track pad they are probably ok though.

Crap... well dissapointed I didn't hear about this little gathering... Ah well...

Sugoi Geoff... It's the best feeling to lose your virginity on the track! Umm... anywho... All the best with the future track demolishing I'm sure you'll be handing out before long!

It's all experience brother... don't worry about JT... you'll go quicker as your car will be lighter with him out of it HAHAHA... :p

    Cheers,
    Grant

Thats the 17th Jt and Franz doesnt get here till the 19th... bummer

The Redstuff we have is a new compound. (DEC 05) They changed them last year after feedback from the V8 drivers of the Commodore Cup they sponsored.
