So Andrew and Tom really do know what they are doing.. Was getting worried there when the drill and grinder came out, knew something was wrong hehe
hahahha thanks mikey! *wink* Few bolts snapped off on the 15yo+ headers.... nicely rusted in so out came the grinder, etc.... heheeh Glad to hear that you're not leaking chris.... If you're not busy next weekend you can always come up and we can have a look at any other problems before the big sale.... As long as this bloody TT gets here soon!
Thanks Tom the offer is much appreciated. Might get a drool over your zed aswell. On another note, Bosco did you find any sunnies lying around the shop?
i hate it when you go to undo a bolt.. it wont go, the right size socket just spins on the rusty on nut, hammer the next size down socket over the rusty nut.. 4 foot breaker bar.. 4 of em went CRACK!.. bystanders thought they broke.. i said nope, thats a good sound.. then when i did the next one, it turned, and no noise.. i said.. thats a bad noise.. haha.. yes.. HEAPS of wd40 sprayed while the car was cooling down.. it was just rusted solid. was worried i was gunna have to pull the headers off to get em out.. hammered the bastards thinking they were press fit studs.. nope.. ground them off flush with a grinder, drilled em out (went through two formula cobalt drill bits in the process).. and it turns out these studs are welded in as the heads of the studs are still in there now.. just put a bolt all the way through them i hate it when that happens.. im just glad we got it all done and dusted and one happy customer.. i would have been happier if the rear main WAS actually leaking though.. haha tom your a sucker for punishment arent you?? but yeah.. same goes for me.. let me know when your doing it and ill have a look.. pity we ran out of time yesterday to fix the nigglys
dont know what im doing.. just pretend i do.. haha i wouldnt have started the job if i was confident i could have finished it.. haha imagine if we go.. bugger... cya! car on hoist, no box, tailshaft, zaust, snapped bolts in headers.. you think chris would have cried??
no chris wouldve taxi'd to the nearest army surplus store and bought the biggest knife he could find hehe jokin, you guys did an amazing job, next time i might just get you to look at the "problem" before we go fixin things that dont need fixing haha
Thanks thanks for all the help on the day especially to scott for doing my shifter bushes. had an informative day and it was great to meet you guys, got a couple of pics from the day cheers http://www.photodump.org/stored6/DSCF0007.JPG "proof of work" http://www.photodump.org/stored6/DSCF0006.JPG "should this botl be left over?" http://www.photodump.org/stored6/DSCF0005.JPG "red ZEDS" http://www.photodump.org/stored6/low.JPG "how low can you go"
That last one is a great pic. Gotta love the two-tone, and that black zed looks clean with the clear tails.
Who was looking for the black, vented bonnet on the Silver Zed? Pic 4 shows one off to great advantage (even tho it's on a white car)!
