Booked in at 7am on Monday for compliance work along with the temporary movement permit, my air filter just disintegrated when I tried cleaning it.. Could you please name any place that's open on Sundays in Perth that might have these filters. (assuming they aren't specifically for the Japanese market)

Gonna see if I can find out what type it is, for now all I can tell you is it's a dome shape as big as my outstretched hand. :/

Yeah, I don't think you can clean the HKS ones, only replaceable. I don't know if you guys have Autobarn stores over there, but they stock a brand called Autotechnica, who sell a pod the same as (copied from) your HKS one. You could probably buy a filter for one of these and it would fit in your HKS one. They are dirt cheap too from memory.
They are probably terrible quality, but at least it could get you through the compliance until you can source a HKS one.

Just get a K&N one from Repco...

You don't have to replace your filter with the same one. There are other brands that are just as good if not better.

A Few weekends ago I bought a K&N Pod filter from Repco. Cost around $130. They are open on Sundays.

Check the White Pages for the Repco closest to you and ring them up. Ask if they have one of these filters in stock. They have a 3" diameter and you will require a mounting bracket which they also stock. You might not need the bracket though if you had the HKS filter on your car already...

    Good luck!

    belated thanks to Draco... :)

I have to send a thankyou your way.

It was from your old post which I got the part number for the bracket. Without that info I wouldn't of known what to do or which part to get etc.

    Much appreciated! :D

    thanks

Unfortunately mine isn't 3", it's like 5" so couldn't use any they had without a new adapter (apart from the one I took home only to then read the fine print on being not suitable for turbos), they wanted $170 for a K&N without adapter so I figured money better spent elsewhere, not to mention the conflicting reports on running oiled filters with turbos. All I needed was an element, I ended up cutting one to shape as a temporary measure, nobody stocks HKS so will have to order it and wait.

Oh and we don't have Autobarn here, thanks anyways.

    If...

If you measure the foam and send the details to Uni filter they will make the foam to suit, cheap as,

I personaly wouldn't use a foam filter unless it was oiled,
K&N would have to be one of the biggest filter manufacurers in the world, they know their stuff,
    excelent flow and filtration,
the AFM on the Zee is 3" so any bigger has to reduce down to that size anyway,
the K&N Pod has an inbuilt Velocity Stack to Smooth the airflow into the meter, all good in my opinion...

There is a place in Town, called .....

It is on the same road as goes down past Miss Maudes.
It is an auto accessory place.
you head from the cathedral towards town, you go past Miss maudes and go up to the Cinemas on your left, you will see a liitle walk way which is an L shape, next door to those Ciemas. It is Hoytes I think. If you walk in that walkway, it is your second shop on your Left. I am not 100% if it is open on Sunday, but all town is usually open. So they should be.

Another place is if your in town Upstairs near Myer, and you walk over the overpass over Murray st heading towards the food hall, Chuck a right near the duty free place past OPSM, walk down the passage into the building. On your right there will be a car accessory place located there also. It is near a Pommy clothing store.

    Hope this helps a little.
I con't know any of the store names.

Check out my post from a while ago on a good supplier of HKS filter elements. I think they might even be a WA firm.

    Cheers

Ditto to DVIOUS, though I haven't been into town for years and may leave it for another few yet. :)
