    Hi guys,

Just wondering a cheap supplier for interior vinyl to match the catch surround for the targa as mine has lifted significantly....

Also looking for a reccomended gearbox specialist (manual) that isn't going to wrought me of my cash, but will do a thorough job.

Gearbox has developed a whine...put down to a bearing? noise...clutch and flywheel have been replaced recently though....

Also would clutch and flywheel be fine to put in a recoed box?

    Thanks in advance

    Dylan

Also looking around in sydney....preferable in or near the sutherland shire area

I grabbed some vinyl backed suede from textile traders. Cheap as chips. Obviously have the vinyl side showing. Really easy to apply, and I think it sticks better because of the suede. Had it on the vinyl bits of my tarhas for the past 2 yrs or so and no lifting. Mind you it's too thin to use on anything else. Everything scratches the vinyl I redid l in the back seat

You sure it's not the clutch throw out bearing? Does the sound go away when the disengage the clutch? Got this problem with mine.

Dylan it would be much much cheaper to just buy a 2nd hand box

Yeah its a bearing problem...had wiz look at it...happens when gear labouring or going up any sort of incline...whines like crazy...also under boost 2nd and 4th get some bad crunching...got some new gearbox oil to go in but unfortunately the filler plug is rounded and I'm not too sure what to do there :(

I'm mainly looking for a reco based on the fact that I don't want to get another box with same problems or issues Mikey.

You're probably looking at around the same money for a recondition or a brand new gearbox from czp. Gets expensive equickly. Otherwise a used box from a wrecker will usually come with a warranty, and aren't really too hard to change out.

Hmmm thanks for the info man...not looking to do this for a few months but...how much you reckon for a second hand box? and know anyone that can help install? as I'm not experienced enough or have the tools for a job like that

Depends, they can go for anywhere between 800-1200 depending on how lucky you are really. Should be plenty down your way anyway. All you need is some ramps/axle stands and a good trolley jack. Anti should be able to help you, we dropped his box and got it back in in a night the time before last I was in Sydney. Just don't let him use the jack since he will probably drop the gearbox on your arm... don't ask me how I know! Imo getting the exhaust off and back on is by far the worst part of the whole job.

Also, slightly o/t but you still wanting to lower your Z down? I've got some coilover springs here you can have cheap if you want.

If it is a whine then its just a bearing. Take it to a gearbox specialist let them hear/drive the car so they know for themselves exactly what it is. Bearings themselves are about $40 each or $100 for sealed bearings.

You drop the box and take it to them shouldn't cost you more than $400 or so.

Yeah they did my whole interior...was actually looking at just getting the vinyl sheet to do it myself...it was about 150$ to get my other targa panel done through them
