    G'day everyone,

This might be a long shot but....

I owned a 1990 MT 2+2 TT over a decade ago and sadly/stupidly got rid of it. The itch is back and the road to convincing the Minister of Finance to buy another will be a lengthy campaign.

Step 1 of the campaign: To buy a project engine with the aim of rebuilding and eventually putting it into a deserving 300ZX body.

My only problem is I live in Canberra (not many 300ZX's (or parts) seem to be in Canberra!) and prices have sky-rocketed since I last had a Z (thanks COVID).

This is a long way of saying I'm after a VG30DETT long block but I can't spend a heap of $$$ so that I have the best chance of approval by the Minister of Finance. Does anyone happen to have one they would be willing to part with for a reasonable price (also accepting donations) to mitigate the inevitable extra cost of freight to Canberra and the crazy price of rebuild kits?

Any help with sourcing parts, resonably priced rebuild kits etc would be muchly appreciated as well (have been scouring FB marketplace, gumtree etc without much luck so far)

    Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. I am more than open to suggestion/advice on this..... I guess it is somewhat dependant on the condition of the new engine if/when I get it but ideally I was going for a full strip and rebuild. I had my eyes set on the https://www.z1motorsports.com/z1-pr...imate-vg30dett-engine-rebuild-kit-p-2833.html and then realised this was in Yanky currency and crippled my imaginary "budget" in one foul swoop.

Having not done one before, I think it's looking like gaskets, studs, bearings, thermostat and the timing belt/accesory belts pumps etc. I would ideally like to change everything to new stuff while the engine is out and just do it properly once. Also I was hoping to use OEM pistons but OEM piston rings seem to be challenging to get? I did have a look at the RGS gasket and timing belt service kits but I think I would still be purchasing individual items to match the list in the Z1 kit unless I'm mistaken.

Hey mate, I've got a spare engine that I was going to use as a 'spare for a rebuild' it was over boosted and melted piston 6. I am located in Townsville

For a stock sort of rebuild I'd suggest

    Engine gasket set https://rgsperformance.au/products/...ssan-z32-300zx-twin-turbo-or-na-free-delivery
    Timing belt service kit https://rgsperformance.au/products/...ssan-z32-300zx-twin-turbo-or-na-free-delivery
    Bearings https://rgsperformance.au/products/...arings-set-for-nissan-z32-300zx-free-delivery
Piston rings which yes suit standard pistons https://rgsperformance.au/products/piston-ring-set-standard-size-for-nissan-z32-300zx-free-delivery
    Head bolts and washers https://rgsperformance.au/products/nissan-oem-head-bolt-kit-for-z32-300zx-free-delivery

    That should do you

Hi all, still very much looking for an engine that needs a forever home. If anyone finds one while they’re spring cleaning their garages that they don’t need any more I’d be very keen to have a chat!

    thanks :)
