    hey guys,

test fitting my 2k front bar but having a little trouble with a few things..

1: The tabs from the S1 front bar( the 2 under the nose panel that have 2 bolts and protrude forward) and hang the bar in the middle dont seem to have anywhere to mount to on the 2k bar??

2: the splash guards dont seem to mount upto the side anywhere either??
theres holes in the splash guard for the clips but nothing on the bumper..
its been 12 months since i pulled it off so its hard to remeber how eveything went on :p

those with 2K front bars should be able to help.. if anyone needs pics because they dont know what im on about, ill try take some later and post up then

    cheers

    Hi Scotty,

Ive just recently put mine on the zed, and had no real problems.
The front bolts you are referring to at the top centre behind the number plate are no longer needed, as the bar supports itself.

The side splash panels should attach to the metal brackets that you fix to the inside of the new bar, these brackets fix with a flat metal clip and are bolted up to the guard.

There are another set of metal brackets that fix to the top of the new bar at the front corners, which end up being bolted to the angled section of the front guard.

So in total you should have the big long bar at the front, bolted accross the edge lining up with the nose panel, and 4 metal brackets (1 in each corner, and 1 just in front of the front wheel) . All these brackets should have been on your old bar.

Just a note on painting it though, normal "plastic Bumper" undercoat is no good on these bars, the panel beater that did mine got caught out, and used the regular undercoat, only to find the paint just "Flaked" off! So they had to strip it back and apply a special formulated undercoat, you probably will need to ask your paint supplier on what its called. I know it is white, whereas the normal bumper undercoat is clear.

When tightening up the corner bolts, dont overtighten them, too much will cause the bar to distort a bit on the corners, leaving small hollows where it pulls up to the guards.

Take your time fitting it, you will need to loosen the fog light supports (or blinkers) at the front (3 nuts each) so they are movable which makes fitting the bar into those slots a bit easier. Of course you need to leave your side blinkers out until you have finished bolting the bar on as you need this hole to work through, then fit them last.

As you tighten up the "side/corner" nuts/bolts you need to hold the bar in position so it fits flush with the panel, if you dont get it right then loosen them off and reposition the bar.

It took me about 1 & half hours to do. But I had to do this all twice due to the paint flaking off the first time, so it all had to come off and back to the panel shop for restriping and painting.

    Best of luck with it.
