Upgraded Calipers and rotors...

I am aware that a few people are running aftermarket calipers with huge rotors now on their zeds and was wondering if they have any problems with "feel" after the installation.

After some research, it would seem that the brake peddle will go soft (compared to standard) unless a larger master is used. These aftermarket after market brake master cylinders seem to be available for a lot of cars (RX7, GTR etc) but not the zed.

    Any opinions?

depends what piston size they use in the

callipers. In the sweeping volume of the calliper pistons don't change then the brake pedal will feel the same. I think the AP Racing, Brembo and Stop Tech big break kits all work perfectly ok with the Master Cylinder. If you are making up your own combination, say some wilwood combo then you will need to select caliper pistons that have the same total volume of the original ones.

    Oh well...

Have virtually been given a set of Brembo F50 calipers and rotors but too far away from my zed to play around and get them to fit.

Will probably stick them onto my other car.

    Thanks anyway,

    Considering my options now

as to whether or not I want to stick these on the FD, sell them or add them to my growing pile of Z32 stuff to fit. Maybe I should buy a zed, cut it in half, fit all the parts and then send it over.

The calipers came off a 600hp turbo race civic used for track racing that kept breaking driveshafts. The calipers have been used in total of about 20 laps of TI circuit. The owner of that GTR eating mouse has now gone to monobloc spoon calipers as the brembos were "too big". He said they were overkill for the weight of his car and he was having problems getting the balance right (occasionally locking up and stalling the engine in the wet).

In any case, will need new "bells" (i think that is what you call them) and mounting brackets. Will also need well good clearance 17 inch rims.

Will let you know if I pass them up (as I am also considering Project Mu 6 pots) and throw them into Ev's Z before it leaves so the two of you can fight over them when they arrive :D

Otherwise, things are good over here with the weather starting to cool down for winter. May be back in Perth for a short stay over Christmas/New year.
