Cheers guys, A newbie here in terms of this great car. I was in the middle of having a crisis with myself as to what I really want. Thought I'd be happy with an automatic skyline but my friend was right! There's no point of keeping a sports car if it's not manual. Hence, the hunt starts! Saw a good-looking car at Cabramatta and discovered that there's such a car as 300zx (sorry guys, told you I am a newbie!). Then started to search for the same model up for grabs. I really didn't have the plan to buy one as I originally planned to target a trade-in rather than selling (to avoid all the hassles of selling then buying). So I messaged every zed sellers around my 50km radius. And to cut the long story short (whew!), I have just traded-in my automatic Skyline GTS-T last month to two cars: a 1992 Nissan NX-R coupe + an "apparently" 1992 Nissan 300zx 2+2. I'm going to post pics as soon as I finish completing my zed to get it ready for blue slip as it was last rego'ed 4 long years ago! Have been sitting in the previous owner's garage all along! Had a hard time running from one point to another point and another and another as I didn't realise that this car that I got lost its compliance plate along the way. After three long weeks of hardships, I was able to get hold of a vehicle import approval from the Department of Transport from Canberra. Now it will be ready for blue slipping once I fix the rear wiper (thanks to ZIGGY300 for lending a hand and a foot!), the horn, the front bumper bar and changing the tyres. Can't wait to bring this beauty back to where it belongs: on the road!!!Looking forward to join you on the 27th of September for the cruise. I'll keep my fingers (and eyes) crossed...
i have an auto tt 300zx and i can tell you its not as bad as everyone thinks. manual is better but auto is still very good
Welcome pennyarvs! Sounds like your an up-and-coming Zed enthusiast! Good to hear you're showing it some love and getting it back on the road asap. Next step will be to do a 100,000km major service to it unless you have receipts of it being done previously, but going by the fact that it's been sitting for 4 years i doubt these would be around. Take your time and have a thorough looks through our Tech section, it's very comprehensive and has the answer for just about every question in there
Nice car, mate! I'm sure your baby is as good as a manual. I've had 2 sporty auto's already and they do well on the road! Hope to see your zed in the near future, Romonski!
Nice looking car, Benny! Mine's blue as well with a contrasting yellow leather interior. Got hold of a few receipts from some mods done to her like reconditioning the engine, heavy duty clutch, FMIC, two new rear tyres but you're right! I should have a major service for it once it's blue slipped and rego'ed. Thanks for your kind advice, mate...
This new car of yours didn't happen to be owned by a guy called Joe, did it? There was a beautiful Metallic Blue Z32 with Yellow interior on the Sydney Show scene a few years ago(back in the days of "YUMI"(?).
welcome mate...hope you like your new car make sure the car is mechanically sound to avoid any dramas down the track....make sure that the major service has been done and also have a look at your cooling system. a plenum pull is a good idea. this involves replacing any old water hoses throughout your engine and deletes the unneeded ones...
I'd definitley look into having that done in the near future. Thanks for sharing, ed300zx! Much appreciated...
Well that's hardly something to judge by then. I have a brand new auto installed. I think, a lot of people drive with a 20yr old automatic then judge it, the difference between the two is huge. I do love manuals tho.
