following my recent purchase, i had a wheel balance done ... the reputable tyre place had great trouble trying to balance one rear wheel ... this wheel/tyre subsequently developed a leak .. so back to the tyre shop ... tyre off and shit galore ... the rim had "tyre weld" hardened to the rim, 360 degrees of it ... in varying thickness ...and large chunks of loose weld floating around in the tyre .... early indication of oxidisation of the inner wheel and the weld had forced the edge of the tyre causing the leak ... what a bloody mess .... !!!! .. clearly had been there for a very long time .. took an hour to grind off the weld crap, clean up the rim, treat it with an anti corrosive and rebalance the wheel .. this time a perfect balance .... so, if you do have to use this stuff .. follow the instructions ... get home on the repair, get the wheel off immediately and clean all the residual crap from the wheel and the tyre .. potentially could be serious if ignored ...
A good warning Barry Tyreweld is 'at best' a get-home fix. Should be followed up asap with a pro-fix or new tyre(s).
i was almost going to carry this stuff around town with me insted of a spare. My dad suggested not to coz usually it will result in buying a new tire as the stuff inside is too much like a glue and can make the tire unrepairable.
Ha Ha, I had that in one of my stock wheels. I got a new tyre and they didn't tell me. Following morning it was flat. I pumped it up and it was flat again next morning. I took it back to the tyre shop, and it took them an hour too to clean it up.
spot on ... this stuff had set like steel or concrete .. the tyre place could not believe the result .. and obvisously had been there for a milleneum .... as i said earlier, if you do have to use it, do a big clean up of tyre and rim without delay ... personally, having seen the mess, i would not touch it ... !!!!
