I've been day dreaming about tyres i'd love to have but cant afford now, but was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with the Michelin Pilot Sports or Pirelli P Zero Neros. Most importantly, how long they last for daily driving purposes as I believe a 265/35R18 size tyre of those types would cost over $800 each According to the UK website Tyre Tests The Michelin Pilot Sports have a slightly better life than the Nexen 3000's. (also on the site). Considering how lots of people here rate the Nexen 3000's highly and no reports of changing the nexens every general service I was wondering if the michelin pilot sports would last a long time as well. (I would have thought it to be a soft tyre and have a short life?). Pretty much, i'd love to have a tyre that performs brillantly when cold (not just hot), lasts a very long time, doesn't slip in the rain and hard to lose traction on a 350+kW car. (even if the tyres are cold).
I get my tyres imported from the TireRack as it's cheaper and you get the full range of tyres to choose from. I usually pay $450 - $500 for Goodyear GS-D3 255x40x17 tyres delivered to my door.
Dream are free Shifter, unfortunately tyres are not I had the Pilots on the front of my zed when I bought it and was pretty happy with their performance. I never really found their limits because : a) I was still getting to know the zed, and b)the poxy Falkens on the rear exceeded their limits at every opportunity. The Pilots were probably about half worn when I got the zed and they were ready for the scrap heap after about 6000Kms, but mine isn't a DD so that's probably not a fair judgement. I gave some thought to getting them again till I saw the price. Gee, you don't want much  That tyre, unfortunately, doesn't exist. Although, before I bought my V102's a salesman at a tyre shop was trying to convince me that SUMITUMO [/COLOR=red] fitted that description perfectly :LOL::wacko:
Get Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 Only beaten by the Michelin PS2 and you know how much they cost. I have my F1 on the rears for 28000km and still has 3mm left, so quite economical too. And they still outgrip the front Dunlop Direzza by miles even though the Direzzas are newer. Get it in 285 width though for your kind of car. Oh, and Avoid Pirelli at all cost, they perform like 2nd stringer but at top price. Unless you get them for cheap of course.
PS2s I have had Michelin Pilot Sports, F-235/40/18 on 8.5" rims and R-265/35/18 on 9.5" rims, for a couple of months. They are good in all respects so far but my driving style has not explored their potential.
