    Hi Guys,
Anyone know what the right tyre pressure would be for 275/40 & 245/40 on 18inch mags. Appreciate any help
    Cheers

I always used to put in about 36psi, according to K-Zed this is too low... Can't remember what he said to use so I put in 40psi now.

errr, i think 42psi is a wee bit high.

mind you, better than too low.

    38-40psi is good.

How much do tyre temps rise for street use and therefore how many psi does the pressure increase. This pressure increase would have to be subtracted from the target psi to get your cold inflation psi. Clear as mud.

    Tyres

Mate do you mean anywhere between 38psi to 42psi
    or
38psi for the front and 42psi for the rear ?

    appreciate your input

    thanks mate !

 OMG, isn't that tad bit high?? Wow!!!!, I'm only using 36 all around. I do my cold/hot checks and never get any more than 3 psi increase on warmed up tyres over cold. That was always my rule of thumb. Start with a base psi when tyres are cold. Do a considerable hard ride to really warm up the tyres and check the pressure again before they get to cool down. If the pressure goes over 3 psi from the cold setting, then the cold setting was too low and needs to be raised. Always worked for me on the track for the bike as well.

I have a bit of a question to add, how often should you be checking tyre pressure?

I went to check and refill mine the other day and shit myself when I saw that 3 were down to 28-30 and 1 was on 17 psi!! I put them all up to 40.. so how often should I actually be checking?

i put 40 in all round,i find that with a discrepancy of 2psi in gauges,if i pump them up to 40,they will be in the range of 38 to 42 which is fine.if you have low profile tyres check them at least once a week, because they look flat anyway,i run 265 18's on the back and 235 18's front

Every couple of weeks to monthly should be fine. But I'd be worried why one was so low. Recheck them the next day and then again a couple of days later to make sure you don't have a leak.

screw the tyre valves in,there is no reason for the tyres being that low other than a leak somewhere, wonder what it felt like driving on rims

    38 to 42 psi

It's a personal choice due to trade-off between ride comfort and wear factors.

38psi min (cold) would be a good compromise for around town comfort; 40psi better for wear.

For sustained high speed long trips add 4psi to cold inflation pressures & minimise heat build-up.

Don't trust Servo gauges, buy your own.

I always put 40 front and 38 rear, although ive got 235/40 r17 front and 255/40 r17 rear, not sure it tyre pressure change with a different sized tire

    Same size as I have

I always have my own gauge in the car at all times and use only that as a rule of thumb.
