Has anyone rebuilt their turbos? 4 bolt.
If so what did you do and which is the best kit to use?
When we pulled them from the dead engine there was some water that came out of them due to the engine having had a major overheating issue and may even have had a hydraulic lock up.
I assume they may be stuffed, although there is no play in them and they spin freely.
The vanes look to be in good condition.

If you rebuild your turbos you are advised to send the turbos to a turbo fixer to have them balanced.

Unfortunately its impossible tell if the seals are going to leak or whether there is any bearing damage without dismantling turbos. The best kits are Garratt IMHO (they everything you need in them, other are cheaper but can be generic with several bearing and circlip sizes) and yes I would get them rebalanced for longevity.
Sometimes when I've stripped a turbo there has been so much coke and damage to rotor you wonder how it stayed together as it must have been way out of balance
