This may have appeared twice, however, has anyone manage to do a turbo change over and leave the engine in the car?
People have done it. But it's an awful thing that will take longer than just pulling the engine out. It's a bastard of a thing even with the engine out!
I have heard stories of the passenger side turbo being not too bad, but the driver side turbo is almost impossible to do without an engine pull.
I've pulled a passenger side turbo engine in, can't even imagine doing the driver's. If you're a skilled watch maker you might be able to do it. As Chrispy said even when the engine's out fitting our style of turbo is annoying and fiddly.
It is in service manual (lhd): http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-...=0&cycle=off&slide=38&design=default&total=70 Probably just easier to remove motor.
