hey everybody having some issues with my TT z ... started on friday ... drive along for 30 mins & my car just lost all power ... started after 5 mins then same thing again ... had the car towed back to a mates house ... started cold then died when it was warm .... thought it was my fuel pump finally giving up (it was in need of replacement) so i swapped over with the pump i bought a cple of weeks ago .. seemed all good then once it got warm it died again ... checked for error codes & got the code 21 ... ignition signal circuit im pretty sure my PTU (im sure its series 1) shit itself ... the car cranks over but doenst start but has been flooding with fuel because there has been no igntion ... then there is a pop from the exhaust from the excess fuel ... about to go outside & clean all the connections and take it for a spin see how it goes but in the mean time i was hoping somebody with a working PTU would be able to swap over to test if thats the issue .... my car is in the Glen Waverely area in Vic at the moment im getting pretty desperate today cos i need to get to work tomorrow ( i only went 2 1/2 days last week  ) & have no more spare cars at home ahhhhh any help would be greatly appreciated ... my number is 0422 750 969 (ill be out in the garage all day) apologies if this post is all over the place i wrote it in a hurry thanks sally
There should be plenty off spare S1ptu's around sally? Im sure someone in your area will have one, five minute swap over guys, help her out.

Yes that will be the PTU. I'm actually quite suprised that all the Melbourne guys aren't over at your place helping the pretty girl Tektrader probably has one, I'll PM his number to you.
any help would be greatly appreciated ... just need to borrow a PTU for 3 or 4 hours, to confirm 100% this is the issue, :zlove: sally
Ive got a spare series one that I bought from ebay ages ago as a backup plan but I havent ever tested it. Youre welcome to borrow it. I live in the inner northern suburbs. Send me a PM if youre interested Cheers Stu
I have a working spare PTU out on active duty at the moment. The guy using it has finished with it but lives in Altona or somewhere similar. He is posting it back to me - I could a) get him to post it to you instead, or b) give you his phone number if you wanted to make an arrangement to pick it up. My mobile is 0417-557409. If I don't hear back or see a reply here or by PM I will just get him to send back to me. Let me know, Mikey.
problem solved! thanks heaps mikey & thanks everyone else for there help  .... damn its good to have the Z back on the road .... now to get myself a series 2 ptu :zlove:
Hey Sally, Glad to hear your zed's back on deck. And thanks to Mike for the loan of his PTU for my car. That PTU's getting some use! Simon.
Hey Sally, when you car was having problems was it like the engine had suddenly dropped a cylinder, or did it die completely? My car has always ran pretty good (even when I cooked it), but after about an hour or so of the engine being on it sounds like it is running on 5, and the idle is REALLY rough. I would assume it's not the coil packs etc as Joe did a plenum pull etc and replaced a lot of parts about 6 months ago. The strange thing is it runs just fine then all of a sudden it runs rough. Hmm I forsee a series 2 PTU in my future...
In Sally's case (and mine) the car just died. Same symptoms as running out of fuel (I was doing 100km/h at the time). Total loss of power and engine wont run. Yours sounds something limited to one cylinder - coil pack, coil pack connector (remove/clean), injector, etc.
nah that sounds nothing like what happened to me... i was in peak hour traffic and i just lost all power ... no change before or after to engine performance ... also had big puff of black smoke when it stopped (which i assume is the excess fuel that kept going in while there was no ignition)
