    Hey guys,

I'm on hold with Just Car Insurance, trying to sort out new insurance for the shiny beasty - the guy has just gone to check to see if it's been modified because he says that twin turbo models didn't come with a targa roof..any thoughts? I know it's had more engine swaps than most, but it just doesn't seem right..

    Cheers guys,
    Erin

Thoughts? He's a dickhead who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Considering slick tops are quite rare, I dont know how he came to that conclusion. Everyone has targa tops!

He must be thinking of supras. Althought they did come aerotop in turbo but quite rare.

Yep, he's an idiot...targa tops are much more common on 300zx's than slicktops, both TT and NA.

Show the guy this thread lol

AHAHAHAH. I think he got the point when I started explaining it to him in a round about 'trying not to make you feel like an idiot' way. He went away and manually entered it in their computer system. I wonder how many people have incorrect insurance info because of that system..

    This is what we got:

    Excess (comprehensive) $2150
    Excess (third party) $1000

Premium - 12 months 1051, for an agreed value of $20,000, which can be increased as the mods weren't in place when we got the car.

    That's a decent price for $20k coverage.

Alot of these Suncorp owned companies (Shannons, AAMI, Justcars, GIO) have some kind of whack database of vehicles. Apparently '89 Z31s dont exist either according to them! lol The dude on the phone was like, mate you dont know what car you have it's wrong. I felt like karate kicking his grandma...

What do you mean by, ' you've never seen one'?

Everyone seems to say that slick tops are rare, yet I've seen more than I can poke a stick at. I'd like to know exactly how many 'slickies' there actually are Australia, to find out how rare they are.

    no they didn't

Any aero turbo is a conversion.

They usually get confused when you say "Twin Turbo" coz the aus delievered ones were NA

RAC will happily talk to you about insurance on a 300ZX until you say TT... then they go all quiet

In comparison to t-tops they are, 2 seater slicktops are teh sex...

I know they're not as rare as some ppl make out. As I said, I've seen enough of them to know otherwise, both driving around, and on web sites, advertised for sale. That's why it has always made me wonder why ppl advertise them as a 'Rare Slicktop'.

I can't argue with that comment, especially when they're dressed in black, :D

Yeah they did. There was a big write-up on the supra forum I read ages ago. The aero DID come in a TT, but very rare. (well, this was on the forum). I can't remember the code i.e. SZ, RZ etc. but it had it's own code too.

    Speaking of insurance

I lmao @ the suncorp insurance guy.

They wanted me to pay $3500 P/A on my 87 Turbo, with an excess of $1100! For a value of $4500!!!!!!

    F**Ktards....excuse me....

P.s. I'm 19yo with insurance in my name (was 18 at the time)....still un-freakin-believable tho.

That is just a round about way of telling you your car isn't worth comprehensive insurance. :(
