Guys......just a bit of advice if I can......and it is needed urgently as I am without a car because of this. Took my beloved Zed to the local transmission workshop for a service. Was told that the 2 - 3 solenoid is dead which is why I have been getting bad changes in to third. Then got told "you can't buy just the 2 - 3 solenoid by itself ...... you need to buy the set". Short ending to the story.........$760 bill for the service and solenoid replacement! I'm not silly...... I am a qualified mechanic even though I don't work as one these days. Problem is......I am not fully versed on the transmission on the Zed and am starting to get the feeling that I am being taken for a sucker! All advice gladly accepted!!!
Don't feel too bad, happens to most of us, wondering if we're being taken for a ride. I had an expert here working on my car and for the life of him he didn't know why it went in and out of OD so off to a trannie expert it went who deducted it was the temp sensor. Of course the replacement was a full harness for over $700 so they "decided" to put in a compatible sensor to cut cost. I got a bill for $700, what do they call that? And it still isn't working properly! So there's two of us scratching our heads. I've worked out anything about a grand sounds about rite for a zed.
out of curiosity if they had to buy a set do you know if they replaced all of the solenoids in the set or just your "Faulty" one, and no matter what they changed where are the "Good" remaining solenoids???
"always ask for the old parts" Instead of a wheelbarrow full of cash I'd have one full of old parts! lol. True though. I've sourced a harness from a fellow member and I'll replace it with that and see how I go.
get auto boxes from vq30det motors they are 10 years newer and they are like 200 bucks from the right people same as vg's
