Correction...>>> All J-Spec zeds (TT & NA) are suppose to be 1.2 bar, although I have a feeling that 0.9 bar is listed for Aus-Spec Zeds on the Nissan Aust parts fiche for some strange reason. Will check and confirm tomorrow.Andrew
I've been using 0.9 on my TT for ages now and had not even one incident. Even in 40+deg. heat. Got told off by my mechanic for using 1.2Peter
I have a 1.2 on my TT it came with it on... don't know if its a bad thing or not, guess it just means it will have to get a bit hotter before it spews out everywhere.
I think you should have a 1.2 cap dude.... I dont think a 0.9 cap is suited to TT's. Is your mechanic experienced with zeds?
At the QLD Tech Day cbzx had a look at people's radiator caps and noticed that a significant number of TTs had 0.9 bar rated caps - mine included.
More info inside...>>> I was wrong when I said "Correction" to Zcar91's post. I can not confirm via the FAST program as to what pressure the standard cap should be, so I'll show all the different part No's and let everyone else decide. My guess is it is a 1.2 bar21430-30P00 J-Spec (all TT's & NA's) 21430-30P00 Aus-Spec 1089-0395 21430-74N00 Aus-Spec 0395~All the above No's have been confirmed to have an Alternate Part No 21430-54P00, this is the same for ALL Aus-Spec & J-Spec zeds.Cheers Andrew
Radiator caps The ones we buy from Nissan are 1.2, being higher pressure cope with higher temps. Other Jap brand ones are 1.3
I originally had 1.2 but my mechanic threw it. And told me to never "ever" use a 1.2 again. He eats VG30TTS for breakfast Honestly, I was a little concerned at first and I decided to take his word for it and since I've never looked back. Never had one incident, no leaks, nothing, even in the super hot 40+ deg days that we had in summer. After driving the car every day for a lot of Kms my conclusion is that a 1.2bar cap is unecessary. It puts unecessary stress on the rubber hoses everywhere and creates the potential for a stuff-up waiting to happen. I LOL when I see NISMO 1.3bar for ~35US on ebay. I use a genuine Nissan cap though and will never use an aftermarket one. I respect peoples opinions about using a 1.2, 1.3, but i'm sold on my experience Peter
