Hi my auto TT has been having transmission issues, I had the car down at the local transmission guys. They had a good look over it did a service and said that the transmission will need to be rebuilt( expensive ) or replaced. It had a lot of fine metal in the fluid and the filter. What is the most cost effect ay of going about this? Anyone got any advice having been in similar situations?? Cheers Stuart
The transmission is the same as a patrol. So look for a shop that does those. I used to use wholesale automatics in Barry road Bayswater. Very experienced with these tranny's. And very well priced.
Go for a rebuild Stuart! Unless of course you can find one that you can test drive first...other than that if never buy a used Auto without intensions of rebuilding. Thing is, yes the initial cost is hefty but it only takes a few faulty used autos to make that price up! I had mine rebuilt a year ago and it's been smooth sailing ever since! Cost me about 3k including an external oil cooler.
