    red32 You talkin' to me?

    Some of you may recall that at Eden last year, I had a slight problem with loss of fluid from my recently rebuilt auto trans. Car was very reluctant to move... seemed as though it was stuck in 3rd (is this a safety default mode?). Anyway, refilled the tranny, did the rest of the weekend and the drive home with no further issues.

    And to date (3 months later) still no issues - fluid level is still where it should be.
    No signs of leaks, no slippage on gear changes, it seems perfect.
    What the...! :confused::confused::confused:

    could of just been lack of fluid not being able to relise the high clutch. Or a sticky solenoid mabe. Or even could of fused a clutch together and when you topped it up its got enough pressure to relise it. What happened when you put it into reverse.

    i would say you had fused two or more plates together then they relised once you topped it up

    Hi Doug,

    Did it actually noticeably leak fluid or was it just low? If it was low with no obvious leaks then maybe the guys that rebuilt the trans didn't fill it properly and it eventually led to the problems which just needed extra fluid to fix??

    Cheers!

    The tranny was filled correctly when it was rebuilt, and with expensive synthetic fluid as well.

    Did Wallards end up pulling the box Dougy ??

    Haven't taken it to them, 'cause the 'box seems to be functioning properly with no further signs of leaks. Dipped it this morning when I got home from work, and the fluid level (engine running, cycled though gears, in D) is exactly where it should be - 3/4 way up the "HOT" section of the stick. Go figure.
    Also, if I take it anywhere it will be back to Wholesale Transmissions, who rebuilt it.

    I actually meant when you had that weird leak. I wasnt sure if Wallards pulled it or not.

    But yes take it back to the rebuilders if you have an issue. wonder if it came out the overflow on top of the auto if it got hot? Was there any fluid under the chassis of the car?
