I have an Auto N/A z32 When my car takes off its fine, when you put the foot down it goes fine, can't notice the gear change. but when you driving through the city without 'Hold' on the car changes gears really heavily and the whole car jerks you forward. When i was doing a long distance drive the car suddenly revved hard and wouldn't engage 3rd gear. i pulled over and the car would only run in 2nd manual and 2st. when i put it in D it wouldn't move, simply revved like the clutch was engaged or something. I turned the car off turned it back on, flicked the overdrive button on and away it went. haven't had a problem since. It's almost like with the gears the timing is out. When i put the foot down it doesn't change till i hits red-line and stays there for about a second before changing. I'm not sure but this gear change thing may be normal, but i was told that there meant to change like hot knife though butter and the z32 auto gearbox is meant to be one of the best and changed gears extremely quickly, sometimes taking advantage over manual.
Have you had the gearbox serviced ? Changed oil and filters ? What color is the fluid ? It should be pink, NOT brown. Is the fluid level OK ?
This sounds very simiular to my situation with my auto though without witnessing the problem first hand i can only go by what you have posted. I am still working on diagnosing my auto problem but you may discover my fault along with your own and or i may be able to assist you with you problems. ill keep an eye on this thread for updates.
