Hey guys im investing in some Z tools. I was thinking of purchasing a 3/8" socket set i think its 3/8 inch anyhoo with a budget of around 150-200 i have noticed that repco has a 32pc set for $157 and supercheap has a 44pc set for $150 does anyone have any comments on either of these and their quality? also any other brands would be highly appreciated.. one last question whats a breaker bar?
Glenford Tools... 80 odd piece set for $80ish or a 150 piece set for $150ish...absolutely the best buying around that I've seen...
Breaker bar fits on socket to do the initial loosen of bolt/nut then swap to ratchet (which is not meant to take full tightening load). Mainly applies to larger size bolts. The Z doesn't need that many size spanners & sockets. 10,12,14,17 & 19mm will do most jobs. also 7 & 8mm for things like hose clamps. You will also want a good 5 & 6mm Allen key. also selection on screwdrivers & long nose pliers. Personally I wouldn't buy the bigger socket sets unless you have other uses apart from the Z. I found more value in a compressor & air tool set(impact wrench & air ratchet, etc)
I waited for Stanley 27(?) pc and Sidchrome 33 pc(?) to go on sale at.... Harris-Scarfe and paid a total of ....mmmm....I think about $170 to $180. Absolutely top-notch quality and a real bargain for the quality IMO. Check the quality and if impressed wait for their next sale. CheerZ Vincent
Tools.. Hey there.. just an opinion from a spanner twirler.. this is one of the best socket sets value for money.. I wish I had bought one when I was an apprentice, I have bought a couple for friends and they are great, even though 'ya canna hand a man a granda spanna'is made in some far away country these days, still good value and warranty is over the counter... has a heap of sockets both Metric and AF, bars and tube sockets.. click here to see The sockets. not sure who that tool place is but it's a good pic, a little over your budget.. but is a good set...
I love my Repco tools.......>> Good quality and very strong. The lifetime warranty is nice too, although I've only needed it once. We broke a 15mm openender, although it took leverage on a 3 meter pipe slid over the top to do it. Just walked into the nearest Repco, put the tool on the counter and was handed a replacement.......no questions asked.
mmm... tools... my wrench set was used at Tech Day to assist the saga of the O2 sensors... they split on of my connectors while trying to get the sensors  ...
