How much does it cost to repair an engine with the "timing out" (that was the description from the advert) im guessing they mean the timing belt. He says the car wont start.

Also how much does it cost to replace an ignition module and what level of knowledge is needed?
if you could post a broad overview of what to do, what the parts do, and how to repair, it would be appreciated.

If it's the timing belt then the heads will most likely have to be removed and valves replaced. Sometimes you can get lucky and just chuck on a new belt and it will work ok.

Replacing the ignition module (PTU), is easy, unplug the old one, plug in the new one. If you want to upgrade to the S2 PTU which is reccomended then you will need an adapter harness or cut the old plugs off and solder on the new ones. Pretty easy compared to most stuff on the zed :p

without proper, trusted and independant diagnosis of potential damage done through improper timing belt fitment, I'd steer well clear of the car. Repair bill can run into the $thousands

Thanks mate, and is there any way to tell whether ONLY the PTU on a car is broken? or could i fix that and there still be a major problem?

If the engine can be rotated by hand with no interference between the valves and piston and there is a code 21 error then it is possible. Really need someone to go and have a look at it who knows what they are doing.

Best case it is some dodgy connectors around the engine, worst case it needs a rebuild, new ptu and new loom.

If you aren't mechanically savvy and prepared to pull the engine out, it would be best to find a good one that is running.

Ok, ill go for one that does not need repairs. just incase there is more that meets the eye (which i dare say there would be).

Now we play the waking game.

    Also what is a loom?
